Freepers concede Cheney's monkey will be a total flop in the debates.
Edited on Sat Sep-25-04 09:54 AM by lpbk2713
According to the current MSRNC poll .......

"Do you think the debates will be the deciding factor in your choice for President?" * 1617 responses....... Y = 28%, N = 72%

They are saying the debates won't be a deciding factor because they know their boy will be entering a battle of wits unarmed and so they are minimizing the importance of the debates before they even start.

2. Wrong meme. Bush is a great debater. He wins every debate he's in
Seriously, he always beats expectations because Rove always manages Bush's expectations into the ground. When Bush goes thru a whole 90 minutes without barfing on-stage, they can pronouce him the winner. Great strategy. But please don't surrender to it.

Instead, try telling a few fence-sitting friends how great a debater Bush is, how he always manages to redefine the terms of the debate by avoiding nuance and fact. Tell them that you wanna see if Bush has a comman of the basic facts that it requires to be president.

I think that's the best way to pre-spin the debates in Kerry's favor.

5. Brokaw:"Wow once again George Bush comes from behind to win...Tim?
Russert (turning to camera two)That is certain Tom he really did much better than many people expected him to far above what conventional wisdom was saying.

Tom:Chris? How well, how far above expectations, do you think the President did?

Chris Mathews: (mouth open wide eyed look on his face) I can see why so many people say that they would like to have a beer with THAT GUY!

Tim: Tom?

Tom:Yes Tim

Tim: Once again he was able to define this debate on his terms and state clearly to the American people what he would do in a second term....

6. It won't matter what he says, his pet media always calls it for him anyway
Kerry will repeat something once too often and that will be the mediawhores' focus and Bush will be declared the winner like he always is.

7. Hopefully he repeats things like
"That is not true, here is why..." and "You didn't answer the actual question" or "you answered that question with another excuse", or "You said you were for this four years ago, and despite having control of virtually all forms of Government, the Republicans failed to deliver". If Bush uses 9/11 as an excuse Kerry needs to hit back with the vacation days every time. "If you hadn't taken more vacation time in the last four years than most working people get to take in their entire life you could have gotten it done." If he gets into another Al Gore agree-fest with George he is so screwed. Kerry needs to throw up facts and the hard questions Bush hasn't had to answer for the last 4 years and then hold Bush to answering or breaking.

9. There won't be a bona fide "debate"
If you saw NOW you'll realize just how scripted and stultified this thing will be. The candidates aren't even allowed to answer each other, just the moderator, who chooses the questions. It won't be muh more than a glorified press conference featuring sound bites. The "Debate Commission" is nothing more than a bipartisan contracting device in which the Dems and GOP write down ahead of time exactly what is to be said. Bush won't be caught by surprise, but he'll still come across as dumb and inarticulate. Unfortunately, that is much more TV friendly than Kerry's scholastic style. In this environment, warChimp will come across as more "human."

8. I'm Not Buying It

Even if Dubya spends his part of the debate wordlessly sipping non-alcoholic beer, the right wing media and his supporters will declare him the overwhelming victor. Kerry better be at the top of his game...
