A senior economist in the U.S. Department of Agriculture (news - web sites) has come under fire from Democrats and government watchdogs for suggesting that the Bush administration could maximize votes in key dairy states by keeping milk prices high through the election.

4. Don't the dairy farmers realize this is a ploy, or don't they care?
IS this a make the bucks while we can? Hell, every vote I remember in both houses has consistently voted for all farmers, whether dairy, cattle, or agri.

I actually thought the higher price of sairy products had more to do with the mad cow scare. That affects ALL cattle, not just the beefers ya know.

today. That's pretty good since the Tribune is so freaking right-wing most of the time.
