WOODMERE -- Keeping the law and order during a presidential visit . . . who pays?
When Bill Clinton came to town recently to peddle his new book, he drew a huge crowd. But it wasn’t just fans of the former president who flocked to the Eaton Collection Mall in Woodmere. The appearance also attracted a horde of police and firemen to protect the ex-president.
The question is, who paid for it?
It was a book signing where people had a chance to get an autograph and a glimpse of a popular ex president. But one woman, a diabetic grew weary and collapsed in line. A fire rescue unit is dispatched, not from the Woodmere fire station next door, but Orange Village two miles away. When asked why the Orange Fire Department was called when Woodmere has its own fire department,
Orange Fire Chief Bruce White was said: "To tell you the truth, I’m not sure."
“This is an honor,” Benjamin said. “There was a lot of guys who loved this guy as president. You should have seen the people in there. I never thought that many people wanted his signature. It was amazing.”

I don't blame them. I think I would do it too if I could meet President Clinton. He's worth it.
