My letter to CBS - 60 Minutes
(AP) CBS News has shelved a "60 Minutes" report on the rationale for war in Iraq because it would be "inappropriate" to air it so close to the presidential election, the network said on Saturday.

****

I can't think of a MORE appropriate time to air a story about the rational for the Iraqi War than BEFORE the election. If we, as American voters, are denied the facts about what is going on in this country, how can we be expected to make any kind of informed decision about this very important election? I believe that it is imperative for you to air this story BEFORE the November elections. If your facts are correct, you will be doing a great service to this country.

Is CBS now becoming afraid to air stories that might be controversial? Is 60 Minutes becoming an irrelevant entertainment show? Will we ever see programs on CBS that make us think and allow us to make intelligent decisions? Whatever happened to the concept of the press being the watchdog of the government.

Edward R. Murrow must be rolling over in his grave.

1. Good letter, do you have the contact info so we might join ya.
:hi:

If only the media questioned the WAR before the WAR! Iraq and Syria are next if we don't act.

4. Boy, after the Dan Rather debacle, I wonder whose life was threatened
by the RNC (or, I should say, the BFEE) that CBS is now so gun shy, so to speak.

6. I just sent my own e-mails to 60 minutes & 60 minutes II
It said
Hello Everyone
I read about this story recently.
(AP) CBS News has shelved a "60 Minutes" report on the rationale for war in Iraq because it would be "inappropriate" to air it so close to the presidential election, the network said on Saturday.
What are you all afraid of, pissing off your CEO who said he is going to vote for George Bush even though he is " a liberal Democrat". This story needs to be aired before November 2 so that WE the American Public can decide for ourselves who to vote for.
Sincerely Yours
*****

I liked your first paragraph so I borrowed it I hope you don't mind.

7. the truth might hurt Bush, so we can't have that so close to an election
"I can't think of a MORE appropriate time to air a story about the rational for the Iraqi War than BEFORE the election."

This was similar rationale used by Scalia, isn't it? Can't count the votes in Florida, because that might hurt Bush's chances of winning the election.

Unbelievable. Then they infuriate, add that insult to injury when they say mainstream bias is for the democrats.

The sad and scarey joke on America, that is the media continues...
