Does anybody else have a problem with labeling or blaming "The Neo-cons"?
The Neo-cons are after all not a party, they are not a religion, and they are not an institutional job description. They are people sharing an ideology that has been labeled, (by themselves as best as I can see) neo-conservatism. They also strike me as a bit of a scapegoat.
After all, the NC's hide behind a specific party, and a religion. Their agenda was well known in political and intellectual circles before the last election. Their tactics are well known, and laughably predictable.
Why should their elected and appointed straw men be allowed off the hook?
Why are Republicans so quick to blame a handful of individuals for the obvious failures when the web is in the hundreds who profited, the millions who acquiesced?
If this election goes the way I think it will, the time will come to clean the hull of the barnacles.
No more - "because it's good for business"
No more - "because he has served honorably except X"
No more - "because Nation Y might be good in the future"
Until there is Justice there will be no Peace, but until there is confidence in the mechanisms of Justice - be they administrative agencies, the courts, or even the cop on the corner; we can't even begin the discussion.
The game is broken; certain players get to change the rules.
