Iraq vet friend of mine, voting for Kerry
Edited on Sun Sep-26-04 10:33 PM by gospelized
i caught up with an old high school friend a few days ago. i hadn't seen him for years and years.

turns out a few years after we graduated, he joined the military. he was sent to Iraq last year, where his vehicle ran over some explosives, and he got shrapnel up his right leg and the side of his body.

i didn't want to come out and ask his politics, so i just kinda sarcastically said "find any wmds?"

and he went off. he was so extremely pissed at Bush, who he had voted for in 2000. he said nothing can stop him from voting Kerry.

it was awesome to hear.

edit: i forgot to mention the reason i was catching up with him.

he called me out of the blue and needed to borrow some money. his girlfriend had surgery, and his benefits weren't enough to cover her medicine.

god bless you, mr. bush.

3. Thanks for posting that
I'm so sorry for his injuries, and for all that he must have experienced in Iraq. But I'm so glad that he is voting for Kerry, and I hope that he spreads the word far and wide! :bounce:

5. I wonder how the military will vote this year.
:hi:

Sorry about his suffering, but I am glad to hear he's in the Kerry column.

6. Friend of mine owns a bar, but had to pull a year's stint in Afghanistan.
He's in the National Guard. His wife quit her job to keep the pub afloat in his absence.

He's home now, and okay, but they've held several Kerry fundraisers at their pub. He has Kerry signs in his bar and "Somewhere in Texas a village is missing its Idiot" bumpersticker behind the bar.

Ask him about Iraq and he says "EVERYbody in the military knows it was about the oil and they are PISSED."

Joe is the kind of guy that makes you proud to be an American.

7. My Nephew, Iraqi vet, and boss (Back door drafted NJ Guard) for Kerry.
No exceptions. They don't know each other but they both speak the same voice, "No one could have screwed up the mission in Iraq worse than Bush." Only someone new can fix it.
