3. Not really.
I don't read a political one unless someone points me to a specific thing on there. There's someone I know that has a blog about stuff he's doing that I go to every now and then though.

30. Freedom of speech: Use it or lose it.
The web is the best opportunity to get one's message across to points across the globe.

Now whether people use that to the best advantage, or if they're talking about OMG THAT BOY IN 2ND PERIOD IS S000000 Ky00t!!11!!, it's still a good thing.

I keep an online blog, and I did throughout the 2000 elections and 9/11 and the aftermath. At the time, a lot of people were afraid to speak out - me included - but I did anyway. And I had a lot of people write me and thank me for making them feel sane again.

Does that make me naive or dumb? I feel rather smart listening to all of you!

7. I read Atrios/Eschaton once in a while.
There are some DUers who post in the comments on Eschaton, and he's actually pretty good once in a while. I'd say I read him three times a month, if that, and that's about it.

Mr. Nownow reads all of them -- Eschaton, DailyKos, Joshua Micah Marshall's blog (whatever it's called), Wonkette. I get the same info here without anybody else's spin on it, so I guess it's all a matter of taste.

The biggest reason I don't read Atrios more often, I think, is that the thing I really enjoy is the 'comment' pages, and Haloscan (the engine he uses to allow people to post comments) sucks. DU is easier to read, and since -- as I noted -- there are DUers who also post there, it's easier to just hang here for the same information.

8. not I..
If one of the posts here refers to something that was posted at a blog I'll usually follow the link to get the context, but that's the extent of my blog reading.

Long-time poster who stopped coming by here a few months ago, which is our loss.

Great writer and keen insights.

16. You are definitely missing out, IMO
I love DU, but I know I'd be missing out on a lot of fantastic analysis if DU was all that I read. Experts like Juan Cole on Iraq or Dave Neiwert on right wing extremism provide high quality information and analysis that is certainly absent from the mainstream media and even often absent from a place like DU (although I do see their writings linked-to on occasion).

18. Nope...
I find them to be ego-stroking exercises... I have my own life to lead. The time I spend at DU and researching political things are my only forays into things like that.. I think they're like reality tv for the internet, I'd rather live than read about someone else living.

20. I'm on DU a lot but
when I suggest to husband there's a great thread, he claims he knows who he is voting for, and that is enough. Same w/interviews on TV, etc. But I asked about the 1st debate, and he IS THERE. Very interested.. yep, it is VERY important!
PS Caliphoto, I see you're still here, we all have lives to lead, but I think this election has taken the wind out of may peoples' sails.
It is VERY important.

21. I read one blog
www.juancole.com

He has the best information I've found on what's going on in Iraq and the rest of the Middle East, as well as the inside story on subjects like the Pentagon Israeli spy case.

He's very reliable and I'd recommend him to anyone looking for a good source of verifiable information.

Only as I am directed by a link to some germane and/or interesting information (opinion or editorial).

It's a matter of time allotment.
