American Idiot will be number one single throughout the world.
Don't believe me? In a world that totally hates Bush this album is about to fly off shelves in every country.

As I said earlier, God Bless Green Day!

1. Maybe if it was stronger and catchier, it would.

4. You're crazy, if you don't like the music you should still read the
lyrics.

This album rulz, and it helps us exponentially. Sorry you disagree.

5. No, all I said was it's not a particularly great song.
I'm glad they're on our side, but I would rather it was a more talented act doing it. Green Day are merely a passable fourth-generation pop-punk outfit.

9. I have to agree, its just not a great song.
But then again, very few popular punk songs are, so who knows.

10. I'd be happy if it was successful, it's just the musician part of me
I mean, it's pretty standard Green Day fare, isn't it?

Edited on Mon Sep-27-04 02:30 PM by Melodybe
even a touch of hair bands in there too.

Jesus of Suburbia is brilliant.

here are the lyrics:

Part I

I'm the son of rage and love
The Jesus of suburbia
From the bible of none of the above
On a steady diet of

Soda pop and Ritalin
No one ever died for my sins in hell
As far as I can tell
At least the ones I got away with

And there's nothing wrong with me
This is how I'm supposed to be
In a land of make believe
That don't believe in me

Get my television fix
sitting on my crucifix
A living room on my private womb
While the moms and brads are away
To fall in love and fall in debt
To alcohol and cigarettes
And mary jane
To keep me insane
Doing someone else's cocaine

And there's nothing wrong with me
This is how I'm supposed to be
In a land of make believe
That don't believe in me

Part II: City of the Damned

At the center of the Earth
In the parking lot
Of the 7-11 were I was taught
The motto was just a lie
It says home is where your heart is
But what a shame
Cause everyone's heart
Doesn't beat the same
It's beating out of time
City of the dead
At the end of another lost highway
Signs misleading to nowhere
city of the damned
Lost children with dirty faces today
Noone really seems to care
I read the graffiti
In the bathroom stall
Like the holy scriptures of a shopping mall
And so it seemed to confess
It didn't say much
But it only confirmed that
The center of the earth
Is the end of the world
And I could really careless

City of the dead
At the end of another lost highway
Signs misleading to nowhere
city of the damned
Lost children with dirty faces today
Noone really seems to careeeeee
HEY!

Part III: I don't care

I don't care if you don't
I don't care if you don't
I don't care if you don't care X5
I don't careeeeeeeeee

Everyone's so full of shit
Born and raised by hypocrits
Hearts recycled but never saved
From the cradle to the grave
We are the kids of war and peace
From Anaheim to the Middle East
We are the stories and disciples of
The Jesus of suburbia

Land of make believe
And it don't believe in me
Land of make believe
And I don't believe
And I don't care!
I don't care!

Part IV: Dearly Beloved

Dearly beloved are you listening?
I can't remember a word that you were saying
Are we demented or am I disturbed?
The space that's in between insane and insecure
Oh therapy, can you please fill the void?
Am I retarded or am I just overjoyed
Nobody's perfect and I stand accused
For lack of a better word, and that's my best excuse

Part V: Tales of Another Broken Home

To live and not to breathe
Is to die in tragedy
To run, to run away
To find what you believe

And I leave behind
This hurricane of fucking lies
I lost my faith to this
This town that don't exist

So I run
I run away

The light of masochist
And I leave behind
This hurricane of fucking lies
And I walked this line
A million and one fucking times
But not this time

I don't feel any shame
I won't apologize
When there ain't nowhere you can go

Running away from pain
When you've been victimized
Tales from another broken HOME

You're leaving...
You're leaving...
You're leaving...
Ah you're leaving home...

2. .".. red neck adgenda"
I heard it on the radio today, and it seems they're not part of a
"red neck adgenda"... but most of the words slipped me, as if hearing
lyrics is an art more easily mastered with written ones. ;-)

It seems, based on their air, that some kids in america don't agree
with bush... not much news there.... sadly, it is not the kids who
bush has screwed over the worst... no that infamy goes to the poor,
women, gays, non-white ethnicities, and old people.

Every bit helps... good work green day; they speak out. Now it is
your turn. :-)

7. Green Day sucks
Every time I hear that #$$#@!&% lead vocalist I see every spoiled, whining teenage brat I ever encountered. I'd say this song will help, not hurt, the Bush campaign by propagating an image of his opponents as nothing more than a bunch of foul-mouthed inarticulate malcontents.

12. Bull Shit you don't know what the hell you are talking about
it is number one over at Itunes and it will be number one on our charts.

Sorry any song that blasts the Bushco media and is real fucking rock and roll is fine with me.

17. AGREED.
I'm glad they're getting a message out, but you know what? Rage Against the Machine (who also sucked wildly) sold as many records as Green Day, and did they have any significant impact politically? Hell no. Bonehead nu-metal fans bought it because it sounded like bonehead nu-metal, and, by and large, ignored their message. (Evidence? Nader didn't get his five percent and nobody's smashed the WTO yet, have they?)

I'm reminded of the punk rock mobilization against Reagan in the '80s, and how it helped Mondale win his electoral landslide.

Punks already know who they're voting for. Having blue-haired weirdos putting out the highest profile anti-Bush messages alienates swing-voters.

Jon could ever dream, it is all about air play and it is a blessing to have this heavily rotated and totally rocking album on our side.

Leave the snobbery behind, every bit helps and I thank Green Day from the bottom of my heart.

Don't build up expectations like this. It's always better to underestimate.
