just got back from Senator Byrd's speech in WVtonight
at the university of charleston.

it was pretty cool. got a signed copy of his book and got to thank him personally for being the only senator with a spine.

it was senator byrd's first public appearance during a trip home since the war started, so the place was packed with grateful west virginians. pretty standard speech-stumping for kerry, bashing bush. attacking the GOP direct mail campaign that insinuates that if elected kerry will ban the bible-he said that the national GOP shows an 'utter contempt for the intelligence of the people of this state"

my personal fav line was when he spoke of the Gop senators who have abandoned any sort of principals to march in lockstep with bush:

"It doesn't matter if you have a vocabulary of 30,000 words if you can't even say 'no'"

so anyway, it was a good night and thought i'd check in

1. Thanks for the news
I would only hope that all the people in WVa that vote for Byrd, would vote for Kerry.
