What's up with CNN's Jack Cafferty
Today on American Morning, they were showing a clip of a small plane crashing and he said that it reminded him of Air America. During the RNC, he went on a rant about protestors disrupting life in the city (he did that on Thursday before the convention even started).

Is having this guy as a cohost on a supposedly even-handed show remotely appropriate?

Bicyclist sues CNN anchor Jack Cafferty
NEW YORK (AP) — A bicyclist has filed a $10 million lawsuit against CNN anchor Jack Cafferty for leaving the scene of an accident.

The lawsuit, filed Thursday in state Supreme Court in Manhattan, alleges Cafferty was "reckless and grossly negligent" when he knocked Billy Maldonado off his bike with his Cadillac and drove away on May 14.

He's no Bill Janklow, but he's well on his way!

7. I read about that a year or so ago
As i recall the bike was dragged under his car for a few blocks but he said he didn't realize he had hit anything!!!. No one was really injured but he's a hitandrunner and should have done some time.

3. He's a convicted drunk who got off scott free for running over a cyclist
and getting a slap on the wrist. He is a scum of the earth - a repuke.

He should be in prison, not on a network.

Go figure.

5. I believe he's demented, too.
I suppose CNN sees him as their O'Reilly-style crank. But he's worse than that. He shouldn't be on the air.

10. Reality Check
Cafferty Hates the W administration or at very least, despises the Iraq war.

4 out of 5 of his political pieces are critical of the W administration / Iraq.

13. Don't know
Not sure he cares. By the way, how IS Air America doing? I listen every day and they sound pretty chipper (and there are a number of new affiliates). But are they making it?

21. Thanks for the visual
:puke: :puke: :puke:

In previous, happier days, I always envisioned the firecracker-throwing Asian house-boy from "Boogie Nights" teabagging Limbaugh.

The image of Daryn is far more nauseating.

17. Jack Cafferty is an elitist, snarky, over-rested curmudgeon.
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 02:13 AM by VolcanoJen
Can't stand the jackass. How can a guy who takes as much vacation as he does return to the CNN "news desk" with such a freakin' attitude about the non-vacationing rest of us? Between him and Soledad, and their collective paid time off, I'm really thinking they need to look into some new, cheaper hires.

Forget about that cranky jerk. He sneaks in more back-handed slams on Democrats than Al Michaels on a good night.

20. I hope you mean Touré
Edited on Tue Sep-28-04 02:00 AM by VolcanoJen

I adore him. He's a Music Editor for Rolling Stone, and he's one fantastic music critic. He wore P Diddy's "Vote or Die" shirt prominently on CNN for days after they were first unveiled, during his usual "90 Second Pop" gig on "American Morning," and once referred to Michael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" as "Crack for liberals" in the best possible way. He's a good egg, and he's on our side. Smart as a whip, to boot. And, young. We could use more youth in news commentary, seriously.

I adore him, and wish for Jack Cafferty's permanent replacement to be comprised of a rotation between Touré and the deliciously-snarky-tarty Andy Borowitz. :-)

23. I remember his early RNC convention rant!
He was all pissed off when some protesters unfurled a sign on a building and the cop who responded was injured when his/her foot crashed through a skylight.

Well, DUH! Any idiot can tell you.....DON'T STAND ON GLASS! Blaming the protesters for the cop's stupidity was disingenuous, to say the least.

(who naturally, got away scot-free)

Of COURSE have Caffertys all over TV Pravda is entirely appropriate...

...for Totalitarian Nations like Imperial Amerika.

UTTERLY "appropriate".

Free People might take objection, but there are damned few Free People left in the Empire.

28. Mel Gibson movie
I think he may have been refering to the Mel Gibson movie, "Air America," that came out about 15 years ago. In the movie, Mel and Robert Downey, Jr. play pilots for the CIA during the Vietnam War. They fly small planes and crash one at some point in the movie.

I think Cafferty is pretty biased, too, but I do think that in this case he was not trying to slam Air America Radio.
