Bush is a GODLY man! I'm sooo tired of this BS!!!
I keep hearing this from cspan callers again and again! What in the world is a godly man?

One who as Gov. presided over the most executions in US history?

One who lies all the time?

One who promotes his own religion over all others?

One who pretends to be a Texas rancher, but it's a lie?

WHAT IS A GODLY MAN?

1. Isn't it interesting how godliness has been redefined by the
reThuglicans? Godliness now means whatever they approve and whatever supports their narrow agenda and narrow mindedness.

One of my favorite quotes is "Don't tell me you are a Christian - let me figure that out for myself".

5. There is a difference between thinking you are Christian and
thinking you are Christ. The second one is extreme blasphemy.

7. You still getting angry at this?
Look, since Robertson stepped down from head of the Christian Coalition and Ralph Reed moved on as well, George W. Bush is the de facto leader of the religious right. For that sad segment of our population in which the Bible is absolute historical truth and liberals are satanic, Bush IS a godly man. From their perspective, they're telling the truth. They actually believe this. Plenty of voters are on the fence. These people are not among them. You won't get the right-wing fundies to vote any other way. It'd be like asking them to vote against Pat Robertson.

8. When was the last time he was at church?
I don't watch a lot of TV but I remember from past presidencies that every monday morning there would be a shot of whatever president warming a pew in some church. I certainly saw plenty of shots of Clinton.

I haven't seen any of Dubya.

Where is he going to church. Why haven't we seen any photos?

I'm starting this as a new thread.

9. I remember hearing that he has some minister in the WH.
Don't remember where I heard this, but it was something about having a minister come to the WH several days a week, or every day, and pray with him.

I almost feel guilty saying this, but that almost sounds like asking god to come to him instead of him going to god's house.

10. Pssssssstt...
..."Bush's born-again Christianity, an anomaly in his patrician East Coast clan, serves a similar function. For Bush, faith is less about the joyful worship of God in a community of believers (as Frank points out, he seldom attends church) than it is about forcing a structure on both the world and his own life without the risks inherent in a genuine attempt to understand either one."
