his political theorizing is no longer operative for modern times. he is stuck in early 20th century political and economic theories that are generally dismissed by leftist activists as inconsequential in the 21st century world, and he is angry that his opinion carries little weight with them now, thus he is attacking the Left who have left him behind.

he thinks that the Left has moved away from him, but it is he who has moved away from the Left by standing still as the Left re-assmbles to met the modern age.
