1. am hearing you
it's all over.. now the media will only cover Kerry's tan and not substance?

Think it's because Bush wouldn't let the AC on during debate and he doesn't want to wear makeup and perspirate?

12. I HAVE A DREAM
"I have a dream that my four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I have a dream today..."

A little off the beam here, but Dr. King still had it right.

4. Not true
This myth that every time you click onto Drudge's site he /the RNC makes $$$ is Bull! If true, then why can't Drudge just sit at home all day & click onto his site. Are you saying allthese rightwingers are clciking on Drudge 50 times an hour just to help him? Puh-lease!

10. Just ask yourself
does what your saying makes sense. Does DU get money everytime anyone here hits clicks on a link? I have asked on other topics before where does Drudge get his money & it was debunked by MANY ON THIS MESSAGE BOARD that Drudge does not get loads of money every time someone clicks on his site. Maybe if you click onto a story than perhaps but NOT just clicking onto his site.

I click onto Drudge for the same reason people here listen to Rush & watch Fox News. To see what the other side is saying. So PLEASE stop with this Clicking onto Drudge makes him Money crap! Do some research!

8. I don't think it's his site but if you click on one of the advertiser's,
Drudge gets money.

18. Exactly. Drudge only makes money when his site guides you to...
... one of his paid advertisers.

However, when you click on Drudge, you do increase his hit count ever-so-slightly, and he uses that information to set his advertising rates.

With half the country, and the entire US Media hitting Drudge several times a day to see what he's yapping about, I doubt a click here or there from random DUers is going to affect Drudge's bottom line.

3. Same tack as the old "botox" story.
Did he get botox? Did he use tan-in-a-bottle? A tanning bed?

I honestly couldn't care less, but it's an obvious attempt to "feminize" his image in comparison to the "manly" ex-cheerleader.

5. Will the first question Thursday night be
to John Kerry, "Do you tan from a booth or a tube & if a tube, which brand & why?" Is America safer if you tan? The liberal media would LOVE to know!

14. And the first question to Bush would be
something like:

"When the second plane hit on Sept 11, were you wondering where Jenna and Barbara were?"

11. He's too tan
I hope the tan will diminish by the time the debate starts but this is awful. I saw John Kerry on the international French network TV5 10 minutes ago and I couldn't believe how bad he looked. And now I come here and see it's making headlines on Drudge.

Everyone knows Repukes like to make fun of Democrats on the dumbest details (remember the "bunnysuit" or the balloons at the convention) so why does Kerry help them by having such a dreadful tan?

19. Unfucking masochistic believable, by far the worst Kerry has looked
How can we let this happen, on the brink of his most vital appearance? Yesterday his face looked crinkled and drawn and damn near grotesque, maybe three or four shades of burnt. Didn't we learn anything from debate #1 in 2000? And hasn't Kerry ever heard of sunblock?

You know damn well a Chris Matthews will pounce on any bizarre distraction like that, and suddenly Saturday Night Live will do a skit with Kerry portrayed by a black guy.

Kerry should be wrapped in a tent before sees one more drop of sunlight before Thursday.

17. Al Gore "lost" the debate because of a sunburn
He decided to relax on a Caribbean island to study up for the debate and ended up getting sunburned. The makeup on top of the sunburn didn't look so good. They should have tested it under the TV lights.

20. I gotta admit it--that's a funny headline at Drudge.
I rarely go to his site, but thought I would take a peek this time. For those who don't want to go to his site, the headline is, "KERRY ON ORANGE ALERT."

When I got a glimpse of his tan last night I was hoping it wouldn't look as bad as I thought it did. A little more color would have been fine, but he looks like he went to a tanning salon. This is not the way to connect to people who think of him as an elitist.

It is a really stupid issue to be talking about, and yes the media will wildly overplay it, but why do Dems always give them these opportunities? You would think that a few days before the debate Kerry's people would be very much aware of his appearance for it (and if you think his appearance at the debate is trivial, go discuss it with Richard Nixon).

Let's hope that it fades some and looks natural and healthy on him by Thursday night.

22. MSNBC to talk about "Kerry's Tan Strategy!"
Coming up after the break... :eyes:

Remember when reporters actually researched and reported news, rather than their current practice of lazy Drudge regurgitation??

23. Bill Press did a great job of debunking this!
On MSNBC, Bill Press said that Kerry already looks like he's on Mount Rushmore, he towers over Bush, and he looks extremely presidential.

He said that this is just a coordinated smear designed to knock Kerry's appearance down a few notches so that Bush can start at ZERO. He said that Pat Buchanan and Matt Drudge have no way of proving whether Kerry's tan is fake or not, and that they're showing their cards and getting a little bit desperate.

He's absolutely right about that, isn't he? The MSNBC reporter shut his piehole and moved on to talking about oil prices. :-)
