'Moderate' freeper apologists
I have a few Republican friends and acquantances who claim to be progressive on issues such as abortion, gay rights, and race issues. They are appalled by the bigotry of many on the right and Christian fundamentalism. They are quick to disavow themselves from the more disturbing aspects of the right. I was telling one such friend about how people who have Kerry stickers on their cars are sometimes accosted by people who subject them to vulgarities about "fags" and "commies". Her response was "Oh, those are just a few bad apples. They certainly don't represent all Republicans". Well, ok but they are still your people AFIK. You support them and their agenda when you support *bush and co. Don't be fooled because they'll pose with a few black people at rallies or because they'll trot out a few warm, fuzzy moderates to speak at their conventions. When you sign on with them, you get the whole package: abortion clinic bombers, David Duke, militia nuts, fundies, Ann Coulter etc.

There's a lot of diversity of opinions and beliefs and many types of people under our tent. But there is nothing in my party that I have to make excuses or apologies for. I can't think of any faction of liberalism that I must apologize for or causes me embarrassment, even if I don't agree with it.

1. Only the Far Right Wing endorse Bush
The rest are embarrassed by him for his "war", his defecits, and his crashing our needs. The guy is an ass.

2. Not embarrassed enough not to nominate him.
And not embarrassed enough not to vote for him! They obviously don't think he is that much of an ass. They are asses for sponsoring him!
