does anyone remember Ari Fleisher being laughed down...
at a press conference? I'm putting together a video montage and I remember seeing it but I can't remember any specifics. I can't even remember what he was talking about. But I do remember he told some huge whopper and the usually docile press corp just burst out laughing. Ari was flustered, got his panties in a twist and stormed off. It was beautiful.

If anyone remembers any particulars of this episode it would be a tremedous help.

Thanks!

1. I remember it - he asserted that they used diplomacy before the war
IIRC. I posted a thread, I'll see if I can find it. BRB

2. it was about a UN vote about the war
reporters were asking if the U.S. was trying to pressure countries into voting our way, and Ari Pretended outrage at such a suggestion. Then they laughed and laughed and laughed. :-)

MR. FLEISCHER: I haven't seen the story. And you already have the answer, about what this will be decided on. But think about the implications of what you're saying. You're saying that the leaders of other nations are buyable. And that is not an acceptable proposition. (Laughter.)

Thank you.

7. Oh, yeah, remember this promise, from the same press conference?
But, clearly, the President has made plain, as everybody here knows, that if Saddam Hussein does not disarm, the President will assemble a coalition to disarm him. So there remains a possibility for peace; there remains an off ramp. The only person standing in the way of the off ramp is Saddam Hussein. If Saddam Hussein disarms, we can take the off ramp.

EDIT: Thanks for the transcript.

10. Is there video when bush just walked away from the podium?
A few months back, he just walked away silently when at some informal press conference, a reporter asked him about his relationship with Ken Lay.

bush just walked away from the podium, and reportedly went ballistic over letting such reporters through. F-word and everything, oh my goodness.

Anyway, if that footage exists anywhere I'd loooove to see it.
