Name that dictator. Country. Weapons.
I'd like to collect the names and countries of as many current dictators as possible. We need to counter this argument that "Saddam was a dictator and had to be taken out".

The obvious is Kim Jong Il, of North Korea, who apparently has nuclear capabilities.

The question to ask Bush is, how many more do you plan to "take out" without UN support?

Sorry, I realized that my browser didn't see the graphics, but most of you would be able to. Too graphic, too awful.

06/26/03: Let me introduce you to our presidents new best friend, President Karimov of Uzbekistan.

President Karimov government was awarded $500m in aid from the Bush administration in 2002. The SNB (Uzbekistan's security service) received $79m of this sum.

The U.S. State Department web site states "Uzbekistan is not a democracy and does not have a free press. Many opponents of the government have fled, and others have been arrested." and "The police force and the intelligence service use torture as a routine investigation technique."

4. The question to ask Bush is<< The question to ask him is
how many were on your coalition of the coerced??? Example:

http://www.hrw.org/wr2k1/europe/uzbekistan.html
Human Rights Developments

>>The government of President Islam Karimov continued its unrelenting campaign against pious Muslims who practiced their religion outside state controls. State authorities punished independent Muslims with discriminatory arrest, incommunicado detention, torture, and prison sentences of up to twenty years for violations of strict laws on religion and alleged "anti-constitutional activity." Police regularly threatened and harassed relatives of independent Muslims. Sham parliamentary and presidential elections deprived citizens of their right to political participation.

When conflict broke out between armed insurgents opposed to the Karimov regime and the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, civilians were displaced by the fighting, kidnapped by the armed opposition forces, and killed by landmines placed by Uzbek troops.

Authorities continued to impose obstacles to abused women's attempts to obtain justice for domestic abuse and were allegedly complicit in trafficking women and girls. The government retained tight control over the media.<<

6. Found a great link!

http://www.erkin.net/chronicle/iraqis.html

When Vice President Dick Cheney argued strongly for toppling Saddam Hussein, it struck me that in the dismal universe of people ruled by awful dictators, the Iraqis are one lucky bunch. America is preparing its political will and military might to free them from a tyrant. After his fall, Americans will almost certainly devote hefty resources to helping Iraqis build a democratic state.

For citizens of most of the world's more hideously misruled nations, no such rescue is on the way. In Zimbabwe, President Robert Mugabe has arranged to start starving his opposition to death. In North Korea, President Kim Jong Il has been brutalizing his countrymen for years, as well as bombarding the free world with nuclear blackmail. But--worse luck for the North Korean people--Mr. Kim hasn't yet transformed himself into a threat quite as large and immediate as Saddam. So America and its allies instead of seeking an end to Mr. Kim have been trying to keep the status quo by paying him off.

9. The most correct answer is Bush. But Bush has called Chazez
a dictator, despite his popularity. He's got oil too. A lot of us are betting he's next.
