If bush had been impeached for lying for his war, Kerry would not be called untrustworthy. John Dean in his book “Worse than Watergate” lays out very succinctly, in about 2 pages, the issue of how bush MISLEAD the congress, how the vote “for” war had two important caveats: 1) that bush show a link between 9-11 and Iraq and 2) that bush show that all other options had been exhausted.
Bush did not do those things, he simply LIED to congress. The fact that Democrats can't impeach bush for this shouldn't stop them from talking about it because - in a classic twofer - not only is bush not held accountable for LYING to congress, but Kerry is called a flip-floper and untrustworthy. Here are two examples of how this still hurts him:
From an AP report on the debate that hasn’t taken place yet, this quote:
His (bush's) stance is that
Americans know he is a decisive leader even if they don't always agree with his decisions and that
Kerry has taken conflicting positions on Iraq and can't be trusted to lead the nation.

And this from a thread at
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x875646“When we asked people why they would vote for Bush, the war on terrorism was the second most important reason for men (30 percent) and the third most important reason for women (24 percent). In fact, even among white married women, the war on terrorism (24 percent) trailed behind
a strong leader who does what he says (33 percent) and his faith and values (29 percent).”
http://www.alternet.org/story/20036I see Kennedy on C-Span talking about this, but the media is pretending that bush never lied. Kerry is not only a flip-flopper, but they ask HIM how he will end the war, even though they've never had bush elaborate on anything more than "stay the course."
