Fahrenheit 9/11 DVD ON FIRE with first day sales!!!
'Fahrenheit' Burns Home - Video Sales Records

http://www.nytimes.com/reuters/arts/entertainment-film-fahrenheit.html?oref=login

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Michael Moore's politically charged documentary ``Fahrenheit 9/11'' sold about 2 million combined DVD and VHS units Tuesday (Oct. 5), its first day in release, according to industry sources.

That Day 1 sales figure and projected Week 1 sales of 3 million combined units set the benchmark as the most successful documentary ever released on home video.

-snip-

Of the units sold Tuesday, about 1.4 million were sold to rental stores, sources said.

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, which is distributing ``Fahrenheit'' in the United States, has taken a conservative approach to releasing the title, shipping about 3.4 million combined units to retail and rental stores for its launch week, sources said.

-snip/end-

looks to me like they should have shipped more...

1. Getting wild to get my own copy, I checked Amazon to make sure
they hadn't lost my order. Amazon customers should expect theirs between October 8th and October 11th. They must have been SWAMPED with pre-orders!

Sonicx, thanks for posting this thread.

2. I got my copy from Amazon yesterday
I was surprised at how fast it came. I preordered and they said they shipped it on the 4th.

6. Me too. It will be the first purchase out of my paycheck tonight.
I'll be passing it around to all the fence sitters I know.

9. Me too too
Gonna stop at Target on the way home. Asked my wife to buy it last night, but she had to buy basketball shoes for my son, which emptied the checking account.

Make no mistake, it's "hard work" working for a living and trying to make ends meet. Of course, not as hard as being a spoiled multimillionaire frat boy appointed president chimp.

3. I got it on Tuesday.
Watched it right away and began lending it out to all of the people I work with who are 'undecided'. If they're still undecided after watching, I give up on them. There is just no hope for some people.

7. Where are the profits of F911 going?
It would be nice to give 100% of the profits to the families of the 911 victims and to the dead and injured soldiers and their families. Has MM made a statement about F911 profits and where they are slated to be delivered?

8. Perhaps the information is at Michael Moore's website.
Check it out: www.michaelmoore.com

The site includes links to funds benefiting soldiers. After you've finished reading the website & have arranged to donate 100% of your salary, come back & we'll talk.

11. When I make a movie about soldiers getting maimed and killed
I can assure you any and all the profits will go to help the soldiers and their families. We can not do enough to help these brave Americans for putting their lives and future on the line.

Right now about 15% of my income goes to charity and the needy.

13. I think you need to start a new thread.
You're quite off-topic, and even though you should know since you're so interested, you haven't acknowledged that a significant amount of the box office for F9/11 went to charity.

In other words, it looks to me like you're just hijacking this thread to try to stir up some shit.

IMHO, of course.

creator would have sent all the profits to God.

12. It will also be noted that half of Moore's profits from "Roger & Me"
Went to grants for people and organizations including laid-off autoworkers and homeless shelters in Flint. This from a man who never made more than $15,000 a year before 1989...

15. I think that's up to Disney
Edited on Thu Oct-07-04 09:13 AM by htuttle
While Disney isn't distributing F9/11, the deal they worked out with Miramax gives Disney most of the profits, which it must donate to charity according to the agreement. (IIRC).

There's already a waiting list at my library to borrow the DVD. They have a copy, but I'm going to donate another one.

22. Great idea!
I bought one for my local Kerry HQ, but I should get some for my library as well. I wish I weren't so deeply in debt!

For those in Dem states; I live in Florida-if you would like to send a copy to a Florida library, please PM me and I'll send you addresses and phone numbers for a few here in Central Florida.

18. 3.4 million is conservative...
Especially with all the sales that went on before in the movie houses!

Maybe they thought everyone had already seen it and wouldn't want to see it AGAIN!

20. Bought one for my local Kerry HQ on Tuesday
to use as a loaner copy (and I hope they will). If you can afford it, please consider getting a copy for your local library, Dem or Kerry HQ. If it changes one vote, it'll well be worth the price.
