Anyone else find themselves screaming at the tv/radio re: the undecideds
Just a bit of rant here.

Nearly everyone that I have heard has said something to the effect that they haven't heard enough details from the candidates. Actually, for whatever reason they all seem to think Kerry should have details, but never mention Bush. Do these people really think that all the nuances of foreign and domestic policy will be covered during 3 debates??? People take it upon yourselves to do a little research. There are plenty of details on the website. Or call your local HQ they'll be happy to talk to you or provide whatever literature you want. I wish some interviewer would say this. I beginning to think undecided=uninformed. It scares me that this election is essentially in their hands.

1. did you see the Daily Show's clip on this? It was so funny...
a woman playing a reporter welcomes a group of undecided voters. The undecideds each take a seat, and the woman starts to ask a question. Suddenly, the undecideds change their minds about where to sit and get up and move. Then they do it again. The reporter starts screaming at them and asking them how in the hell could they be undecided? What is there not to know, not to see, the extreme differences between Bush and Kerry?
It was a riot. I got it on tape!

11. DebJ, I immediately thought of that, too!
That was hilarious on the Daily Show! The way she started screaming and swearing at them, I thought I was going to choke I was laughing so hard.

I agreed with her, too. How ANYone can still be undecided is beyond me.

2. The undecided...
either they're brain-dead or just plain lazy! to asorb any information that comes their way. What does Kerry have to do for these "indecisive morons" to get his messages across? Stand in front of them butt-naked with an overhead projector and explain his plans step by step? Good lord--no wonder we get screwed come election time with Ann Coulter's favorite kinds of voters--uggghhh!!!

6. Then we'd have to hear that Kerry was too long winded
It's like they are waiting for some magic word that will lead them to vote. Or they're waiting for one of their friends/family members to say who they're voting for.

8. I can see what you're saying but disagree on some points.
Not everyone has the time or inclination to do extensive research. I really do think that it is the candidates' responsibilities to make themselves clear. I personally wouldn't expect the debate to help me make up my mind, I made mine up over a year ago, but I'm very intrigued by politics. However, there are many people who are "apolitical", but still take their voting responsibility seriously and the debates are their time to see the candidates' articulate their positions.

I also disagree that undecided equals uninformed (not to say that it can't, it most certainly can). My college roommate is fiercely independent. I think that she's well informed, she follows current events and the campaigns. She's really split both on policy and even on character. I don't think that she's using the debates to make her decision, but it is a tool that will help her make her decision.

10. After 3 1/2 years of suffering through this moron*
There shouldn't be an undecided voter in the country. It's a simple choice if you believe that this idiot* is doing a good job, then you vote to keep him.
If, on the other hand you get ill everytime the blowmonkey* opens his mouth then you vote against it.

12. There was an excellent article in Salon yesterday on this matter
I think you can get a free day pass or something:
http://www.salon.com/opinion/feature/2004/10/07/volunteer/index.html

I am of a mind with you, frankly - how in the world could anybody be undecided - but the Salon article helps me understand, a bit.

14. I feel they are just consumers, rather than citizens.
They have the idea of self-importance that comes with being a "smart shopper" who is undecided about a product until all the facts are known. This sort of coyness gives someone in an auto showroom some gravitas, I guess, but I agree with others here that it's an ignorant being who doesn't know by now who to vote for.

16. Frustrating
I wish people would make up their minds already! Kerry has a plan... the undecideds just need to listen to what he is saying. I have a hard time believing anyone who isn't already sold on Bush would support him now.

17. my theory about undecideds
is that they're all a bunch of attention piggies. Nobody is paying much attention to the lefty or rightie faithful, we are what we are and we're not changing. It's a way to be in the spotlight if you claim to be undecided. I think that is the case with many of them, I'm sure they're leaning one way or the other. As for the rest - they're just idjits.
