Be a Vote Watcher - on election day
http://www.votewatch.us/participate/votewatcher

As a Votewatcher, you'll be trained for one of two roles: 1) You'll poll voters leaving their precinct on election day, sending us the data you've collected by fax or handheld computer; or 2) You'll sit inside a precinct for about 4 hours, recording your observations and immediately reporting them to us by telephone or the Internet.

We'll combine your observations with data from other Votewatchers and outside sources, analyze the data, report any trends or patterns on the Votewatch website, and immediately send the information to the media, election officials, and other interested parties. Your efforts also will contribute to post-election day reports on issues like best election practices, ballot design, and election lessons learned.

More than 3,600 Votewatchers are needed on election day across key battleground states. If you reside in one of these battleground states, have easy access to a telephone or the Internet, and can commit approximately 4 hours of your time on election day, please sign-up as a Votewatcher. Once you've completed the Registration Form, we'll email you log-in instructions and additional information about your Votewatcher responsibilities. When it gets close to election day, we'll contact you with information about your assignment, your precinct location, training, and your supervisor.

3. Thanks.
I don't know. I haven't decided yet whether I'll be with that organization or a get-out-the-vote organization on Election Day.

6. It is important whereever the Diebold
central tabulator is used. About 37 states now. If you want a comprehensive list go to www.blackboxvoting.org and hit the forums.

11. Also important for 'ghettoized' states ...

... with concentrated urban populations of color. Michigan is prototypical of such a state with the Detroit and Pontiac areas as inheritors of 'red-lining' and 'white-flight' ghettoization.

Emblematic of the right's racial bigotry was (Repuke) Pappageorge's comment about 'suppression' of the Detroit vote.

8. Thanks Eric!
I am helping coordinate this campaign.

We are making a particular emphasis in selected counties of:

Georgia
Iowa
New Mexico
Ohio
Pennsylvania

We need leaders to serve as state and county captains. Then we need a ton of folk to hit the precincts and get the numbers.

If anyone wishes to organize this campaign in other areas, we are eager to work closely with you.

If you are interested in discussing this, PM me with contact information.

For those who don't know me, I was part of the original team that grew www.verifiedvoting.org, and I recently launched www.counteveryvote.org for Rush Holt.

Please join us.

14. If you want to guide the plan to take a different form,
then it would really help if you would volunteer in such a leadership role. Everyone is flat out doing what they can.

TruevoteMD has been contacted. However, with the polls showing a crushing win for Kerry in MD, I think that a turnaround in that state would be seen as a shocking surprise.

My energies are going to places where thinngs are closer.

12. I'm doing KidsVotingUSA so I'll be at the polls all day
at least until 8pm, then I'm going to the Kerry victory party.

The person in charge of our poll workers may be in huge trouble. Its seems that she, a republican, 'forgot' to put the address's on the return envelope of the absentee ballots. I've let the Dem headquarters and newspaper know and I'm going to the mayors office on Monday to pitch a bitch. It is well known that the Dems in WI were pushing the absentee ballot. Was it intentional or just gross negligence, right now I don't know but I expect to find out?
