Good luck to all of you reality warriors out there.
Bush is fucking things up beyond all that has been fucked up before...and nobody is listening. I just sent the Pat Robertson article to a coworker who read what is possibly the best anti-Bush item I have seen so far and basically said 'so'. She then sent me this e-mail circulation item about how Americans are no longer allowed to say 'Merry Christmas' to each other and immigrants need to learn how to speak english...she thought this was genius and started getting all worked up and mailing it to everybody. I am sorry to say this, but honestly, we are dealing with some royally stupid people in this country.

Good luck to all of you reality warriors out there.

2. Here's the Lame Rant I spoke of
> Story in Tampa Newspaper

>

>

>

> Will we still be the Country of choice and still be America if we continue to make the changes forced on us by the people from other countries that came to live in America because it is the Country of Choice??????

> Think about it . .

>

> All I have to say is, when will they do something about MY RIGHTS? I celebrate Christmas, but because it isn't celebrated by everyone, we can no longer say Merry Christmas. Now it has to be Season's Greetings. It's not Christmas vacation, it's Winter Break Isn't it amazing how this winter break ALWAYS occurs over the Christmas holiday? We've gone so far the other way, bent over backwards to not offend anyone, that I am now being offended. But it seems that no one has a problem with that.

> This says it all!

>

>

> This is an editorial written by an

> American citizen, published in a

> Tampa newspaper He did quite a job; didn't he? Read on, please!

>

> IMMIGRANTS,

> NOT AMERICANS,

> MUST ADAPT.

> I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we

> are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11,

> we have experienced a surge

> of Americans. However, the dust from the attacks had

> barely settled when the "politically correct! " crowd began complaining about

> the possibility that our patriotism was offending others.

>

> I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population is almost entirely made up of descendants of immigrants. However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to

> our country, and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a

> multicultural community

> has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Americans, we have our own culture, our

> own society, our own language and our own lifestyle. This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

>

>

> We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language.

> Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language!

>

> "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right wing, political slogan.. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women,

> on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it

> on the walls of our schools. If God

> offends you, then I suggest you

> consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

>

> If Stars and Stripes offend you, or

> THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

> It is Time for America to Speak up

> If you agree -- pass this along;

14. You might want to
delete that little Proprietary & Confidentiality Note at the bottom before posting that on a public board. Heaven help you if someone wanted to get nit picky about it.

Anyhow, I am sure the person who wrote it wants as many people to see it that they can.

3. More like "Meme Police"
No one really perceives reality, as we are limited by our own fallible perceptions and the tendency of our brains to jump to conclusions due to centuries of Aristotelian conditioning promoted by institutions interested in controlling the populace at large. However, through communication, we are able to identify harmful and counter-productive memes unleashed by the opposition and to thwart them through our vigilance.

Really, I just wanted to say "thwart."

4. It's not stupidity
Not IMO anyway.

It's more complex than that. This should give you a clue:

"It is useless to attempt to reason a man out of what he was never reasoned into." -- Jonathan Swift

There's a reason Bush&Co. latch onto fearmongering as their primary election strategy.

Beyond that, of course, is the fact that some people are independent thinkers ("question authority") and some are not.

There's much more to it, but that's a start.

7. yep. and that "Bush supports applepie; Kerry is opposed" letter
what complete and utter bullshit. Setting up an impossible premise to the group of people who are trying to prevent a fascist takeover (US)by creating totally fallacious argument like this.

How does a sane person even respond to crap like this? Yet if you can't offer some kind of proper Christ/family-values/puritanical set of stereotypes in opposition, you are declared loser of the so-called argument.

10. As I was saying...'Stupidity'
Knowing what you know takes an effort. You are educated. You want to see through. Your drive has brought you to clarity. You choose not to be stupid. Unlike homosexuality, stupidity is often a choice.

8. I just got the "speak english" email yesterday...
I replied all: "What is this aryan horseshit? This isn't a fucking klan rally."

But I'm used to those kind of emails. My Step-father-in-law (if there is such a thing) likes to include me in on all of his "Bush just lifted a bus off of a pregnant nun with his massive erection" emails because he thinks it pisses me off. But the truth of the matter is, whenever I see an email from him it goes right to the deleted items folder.

...As a joke I told my co-worker that the e-mail in question has been traced to a Klan group. I told her I was kidding, but it was fun for a second.

I like the Penis, bus, nun thing...LOL
