I Voted Absentee Today in Ohio ATTN DU Lawyers or Election Officials

from what I am told, most of the state is paper ballot. Unless your in an area that has used the computer for a few years now, then you have to vote that way still but from what an election official told me, she is not aware of any touch screens being implemented and used in the state.

I signed up to be a poll worker, and I have been told that there are groups that want to observe and the class we will be taking is going to cover what to expect from these people, they listed this exact line on the sheet telling times to attend classes:

"All presiding judges and all poll workers should get together to attend class as a precinct. Call teh office if you need to reschedule your time. 4196742211. We have added three extra classes to give each of you more attention.

Certain groups within the country want observers at each precinct. I want our workers ready to handle any of the pressure, questions, and abuse that there will be on election day."


Well I supposed I should get ready then huh?

If any of you are election officials or lawyers, could you give me a background on what to expect? I am very NEW for this and from what I am told the first 19yr old they have had volunteer for this job in a very long time. Anyone that could fill me in on election law basics, it would be much appreciated, I hate going to learn something and not now a little bit before I go. I like to fill in the blanks so to speak.

1. You are doing a valuable service and you'll do fine

I don't think its going to be necessary to have an in-depth understanding of the intricacies of federal/state election law. Just how to handle questions or disruptions.

I'm sure they'll do the best job they can instructing poll workers and watchers in how to respond.

2. The kewlest thing I thought was

reading the bottom of that paper telling me they pay me $10 to come and attend the class, and $84 on top of that to actually work that day.



They should shout this from the rooftops to all Teens. Go volunteer to be a pollworker at the county courthouse, vote absentee while your there and get PAID to do so. That is if your called to work on that day.

I was like, "SCHWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!"!

If a Republican "challenges" a Democrat's right-to-vote, one election judge should pull them aside and mediate while the other judges keep the line moving.
