Why I am sympathetic to Kerry for conceding
Edited on Wed Nov-03-04 05:04 PM by noahmijo
Believe me I am just as mad if not more about this whole thing, but put yourself in Kerry's shoes for a moment.

The Congress is now even MORE controlled by Republicans so any chance of getting anything that is liberal friendly passed, say like repealing the tax cuts, that's outta the question.

Secondly and most importantly the majority of the country has spoken and they have said that they don't like Kerry, they WANT 4 more years of hell, 4 more years of bullshit, they don't want to give Kerry a chance they hate him and they don't know why.

So if you were Kerry and you know this you might be thinking "why the hell should I bust my ass for this country given that the majority hates me?"

I mean anytime he would want to give a speech anytime he would try to talk some sense into this nation, you'd see a Christian Coalition gathering outside trying to shout him down trying to screw with him basically.

So to be honest even though I am gonna get flamed for this I am going to say it: I agree with John Kerry, FUCK THIS COUNTRY, it doesn't deserve him anyway.

I only feel sorrow for all of those who did not vote for Bush who will suffer right along the dumbfucks who voted for him.

Now on the bright side here people. This will be a living hell for Bush now. Those of us who did not vote for him WILL NOT side with him we all know that, we will not work with him we will turn our backs on him and let him know that half of this country is DOES NOT stand with him.

It will be the worst 4 years of Bush's miserable life, and for us it will be dark, but we will pull through, and given what is bound to happen, maybe the country will finally truly wake up after they see a nation in ruins due to the antics of Bush and his cronies.

As of now I am advocating peaceful revolution, when Bush is in town dog his ass, protest him, let him know that no matter where he goes he is hated, he does NOT have our support, and eventually in time when he finally leaves in 4 years, we will be able to sit back and scream at those who voted for him "you see what you've caused???" then we will take over and work to rebuild the damage done hopefully with the aura amongst our fellow Americans as to the dangers of allowing radical Republicans to have so much power, as to ensure that it never happens again.

1. AMEN.
Kerry wanted this thing. If he had any glimmer of hope for a win, he would have contested it.

I say screw America. They can have the little shit for four more years. I just wish I didn't have to pay the price alongside this supporters.

2. Then he shouldn't have LIED and told us he'd fight!!!
If he was gonna roll over, then step down and let someone who would fight run...but all along it was "I will fight until the last vote is counted".

I hate being LIED to by someone who I believe...I feel worse about the quick concession than any other part of this horror-show.

3. But they're still going to count them.
This isn't a case of a candidate asking for a recount. The votes haven't been counted yet. Florida and Ohio haven't counted all their ballots yet, and won't certify their results until they do. I believe they are both already under court order to make sure they do (at least OH is).

I doubt if it will change anything, but as Kerry asked, all the votes will be counted. But if they are and Kerry goes ahead (again, unlikely) then, concession or not, the electors will be on his side. They'd elect in a man who has conceded (I doubt a concession is legally binding). I don't think he would have any choice.

Of course, OH and FL both have Repub. Sec. of States, but I don't that Kerry conceding or not would change the process of counting. It should be fairly transparent anyway.

He weighed his options, and saw that litigation would be a lose-lose situation. Seriously folks, he wouldn't win a court battle. And if he did, he would NOT have a mandate, and the Repug media whores and attack dogs would bust their ass to get him impeached. He'd be defeated in a landslide in 4 years because of his inability to get anything through the Pug Congress and the public's perception that he got into office through a lawsuit rather than the will of the people. It would be an unmitigated disaster.

However, the only thing capable of slapping America hard in the face and stopping our rightward shift is another 4 years of Bush's disastrous presidency. Obviously, 51% of the country is convinced Bush is a good leader. What the fuck is Kerry going to get accomplished with a public like that? Jack shit, that's what. I think we need the hell on earth that will be the second Shrub term just to wake people up and turn them away from neofascism. I think Kerry will serve us much better fighting them in the Senate (which he WILL DO; he's taken on big dogs before, and now he has nothing at all to lose) than he would in sacrificing his credibility and any respect he has in a futile attempt at legislation.

Also, I'm tired of people calling him a wuss for "caving in" before Gore did. Gore actually won. By all accounts, Kerry actually lost. He lost the popular vote, and the margin in Ohio was big enough that he wouldn't have won there either. Was there fraud? Probably. But he and his lawyers will never be able to prove that; Rove covers his tracks too well. The only hope we have is opening an investigation into Bush's ethics sometime in the next four years, and exposing the truth to the American public so we can watch the fuckers leave the White House in shame.

We lost this battle; we won't lose the war. Take a deep breath, everybody, and regroup. Better to live to fight another day than go charging suicidally into a battle you can't win. It'll be a long four years, but in the end, this might be what the country needs to WAKE UP.
