Bush On Edge As Lawsuit Targets WMD Businesses
A lawsuit on behalf of over 100,000 Gulf War veterans (text link) has the Bush administration on edge and businesses running for cover.

The class action suit names 11 companies and 33 banks alleged to have helped Iraq with its chemical weapons program in the 1980's, despite knowledge Saddam Hussein was actively using WMD against both Iranians and his own people.

At the time, Reagan's Middle East envoy was one Donald Rumsfeld, hard at work opening doors for Hussein's regime to purchase millions in aircraft, hardware and other potential weaponry.

But after the invasion of Kuwait bumped Hussein from Pentagon friend to the "Most Wanted" list, coalition forces got stuck with the nasty task of dealing with the same chemical weapons that businesses had profited by helping Iraq amass.

Edited on Tue Sep-02-03 03:01 PM by Oaf Of Office
Showing holes in a dam with names of each scandal brewing for the Bush administration, and Bush is clinging to it trying to put his fingers and toes in each of the holes.

On Edit: I sure would love to know the names of those companies and banks being sued.

11. From Drudge...Dangerously High Levels of Radiation Measured
Around Baghdad

..snip..Levels between 1,000 and 1,900 times higher than normal at four sites around the Iraqi capital where depleted uranium (DU) munitions have been used across wide areas.

Experts estimate that Britain and the US used 1,100 to 2,200 tons of armour-piercing shells made of DU during attacks on Iraqi forces.

Our soldiers are sooo expendable to this administration.

12. Awe, poor Georgie--"presidenting" is becoming such a hard thing
Where are the hand picked screaming crowds. All the mess blowing up in his face and THIS they don't need to remind the people of who the assssssholes were that armed people like Saddam in the first place with WMD's. Make the year bring nothing but a hex upon the House of Bush.

14. Did you see the list of the sued coorporations?
It features Deutsche Bank, Lloyds Bank, Credit Lyonnais of France, State Bank of India, Banca Roma of Italy, National Bank of Pakistan, Arab Bank of Jordan, Bank of Tokyo and Kuwait Commercial bank.

AND:
The chemical giants sued are all not American (ABB is AFAIK a subsidiary).

Now why are they only suing those cooroprations; why not the actual weapon-traders?

18. ABB?
Interesting, that's the same company that was involved in building North Korea's nuclear plants and Rummy was on the Board of Directors at the same time the deal was consummated.

:kick: for the night crowd because this is important.

15. I doubt it although I hate to say that
I thought the white house had already told this group, last week, that with Saddam gone now, "There is no one left to sue now." (??)

Of course the translation of that is that "the BFEE has overthrown the Iraqi regime of Saddam (using the taxpayer's dime and military), stolen its' billions and you are now SOL."

20. Many thanks for this! Best thing I've seen against Bush in months...this
one might be the door that opens for us......And it's beyond refute. Robert Byrd has the list of everything we sold Iraq, the quantities, the companies that sold it and the names of the Chemicals......He read it on the Senate floor last fall and he asked that it be put in the Congressional Record. I had a feeling when he took so much time reading one by one the name of the chemical.....quantity....purchase order number, etc......that he was doing it for a purpose....

Now, I know.........my feeling was correct.....he was laying a "foundation." There was no other reason for all the time he took naming this all......

I don't know how they can "worm or squiggle their way out of this one." They've done it before.....but this is really big....I think...or hope.... :nuke:
