I LOVE THE PLAID ADDER!!!
now that i can finally post stuff, i just wanted to say that. every time our incredible Adder posts a column, everyone on my mailing list gets the link. she's the reason i looked deeper into DU, and recommending her column has given my email rants credibility among my friends and co-workers. it's no longer "oh boy, here's the disgruntled liberal" it's "hmm, let's see what he's sent for us to read today!"

why she's not more prominently featured on the national stage is a travesty. pure genius, she is. ok, that's all.

4. Yes, her article today brings home a very critical point....
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 11:51 AM by whistle
...our troops are killing Iraqis by the thousands and calling these people insurgents. Falluga is the best example yet of Bush's war policy supporting Allawhi's policy of ethnic cleansing. The video tape of the U.S. marine shooting the wounded Iraqi who was bound and restrained and weaponless on the mosque floor, only speaks further to the total insensitivity and insanity of the fighting going on in Iraq. The real targets who were the terrorists fled perhaps hours or even days before the attack on Falluga began and are causing havoc in other nearby towns and cities.

How does Bush propose to stop this? More troops, more fighting, more killing, more dying, more spending, more wasted lives, more lies, more justification, more excuses, more grief, more sorrow, more hatred, more pain, more of the same.

<Edit insert>

By the way, the four American civilians who were killed and burned and hung from the bridge in Falluga last spring were PMF mercenaries hired by the Blackwater Security Company. Our marines seem to believe that these people were heroes and are treating them as marters

5. The four U.S. "civilian contractors" died in Fallujah, were not civilians.
...at all.

After Fallujah: The Truth About the Blackwater Mercenaries
Revolutionary Worker #1236, April 11, 2004, posted at http://rwor.org

"We have established a global presence and provide training and tactical solutions for the 21st century. Our clients include federal law enforcement agencies, the Department of Defense, Department of State, and Department of Transportation, local and state entities from around the country, multinational corporations and friendly nations from all over the globe."

Blackwater corporate website

"I would like to have the largest, most professional private army in the world."

Gary Jackson, president of Blackwater USA

"Blackwater . right now has contracts that says are so secret that he is not able to tell one branch of the Feds that he's working for a different branch of the Feds.. Much of the interview I had with them was couched in this -- this almost cowboy-like secrecy. They were very proud of being on these top secret missions."

Barry Yeoman, author of "Soldiers of Good Fortune," on Democracy Now

Soon after the four U.S. "civilian contractors" died in Fallujah, it became obvious they weren't "civilians" at all. All four were trained commandos--at least three had years of experience in elite U.S. military units. They were working for the private mercenary army called "Blackwater USA." All were heavily armed. One carried a Department of Defense ID card.

Are these PMF's America's SS?

6. I'm glad she's decided to stick around DU
I know she was pretty upset with all of the talk here about abandoning gay issues to win elections and I don't blame her. I enjoy reading her stuff and think she's been a tremendous asset to DU!

7. Thanks, guys
It cheers me up to hear from people who appreciate the column, since mostly all I get in my inbox is hate mail:
