Wanted to share this "thank you" from my friend in Iraq . . .

...who is a nurse. I sent a care package of toothbrushes, toothpaste, anti-itch cream, disposable razors, that sort of stuff, for the troops. Also sent an "I Spy" book for her. Here's her note:

"You have NO IDEA how well timed they were. It arrived yesterday along with one from my dad. I handed out the toothbrushes, etc to our Fallujah and Mosul patients and some who were injured by an attack on our own base. Most of them came here with nothing and these guys were some of the last ones to be evacuated... we have gone through most of our supplies because of this huge influx of patients (but we're getting more). They were so grateful for everything, and I told them it was from a John Kerry campaigner. They loved that and some of them said to send their regards. The book is cute; we were all looking at it while hiding from patients for a few minutes today.

"...Thanks again, and to everyone else who's sending their positive vibes/prayers and otherwise just being out there and *caring* about us. All of us here appreciate it."

I think in leiu of holiday gifts this year I will put together another care package. I may even hit up people for contributions to add to it.

That's a great idea! Would sending it to the hospital(s) there be a good idea? I know there are sites that help direct folks as to what to do, but I was wondering if there were any other thoughts here, too.
