Umm, Isn't the terror alert warning raised every New Year's Eve?
Since 9/11, there's always a high volume of terrorist chatter around this time. I wonder what makes us so much safer this year?

3. Times Square...
I used to go to Times Square every year to watch the ball drop.
I'd never do that again.

12. Why not? In TS we have the lovely airborne bio warfare detectors that
will tell you if you've been terrorized. So what's so bad about being in quarantine with thousands of other drunk revelers for a few weeks! Bernie K installed them, he says they wrork great!

14. good point.. and the ones you can get to are, ehem, over used.... ewwwww
i hate the crowds, i got very squished and was on my way to being trampled one halloween. a really tight crowd can act like quicksand. i had to really grab somebody's coat collar and pull myself up casue i was going down. i had 102 fever and people were already stepping on my legs. it was bad! never again!

15. Gosh, sounds like a nightmare
I've always wanted to spend New Year's Eve in Times Square, but after your experience I'm not too sure. I was supposed to ring in 2000 there but got scared away by the whole Y2K thing.

No raised alert for Thanksgiving, Christmas, holiday shopping (spend, but be alert!)...No, there won't be one for tonight either. Repeat after Cheney...You are safer now.
