Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi Now on C-Span Pushing For War With Iran.

Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi, of the Alliance For Democracy In Iran spokesperson. It's like deja vu all over again! The people there will love us if only we invade and occupy them.

2. She was talking about bringing back the Shah,
in the form of a constitutional monarchy. That should go over well. :eyes:

with a diamond throne, a clone perhaps of our very own dictator who would like to be king and doesn't mind killing as many people as necessary to get there.

4. Not enough time has passed...
... for Iranians to forget SAVAK.

With Reza Pahlavi's son, Reva, on the throne, I have no doubt that the emphasis would be much less on constitution, and much more on monarchy... with the help of the secret police.

5. They showed a large picture of Reva from a newspaper article
when they were talking about him. It looked like a publicity photo that his people had provided, to make him look as much like a King as possible.

7. What amazes me...
... is that Iran has, at every opportunity in modern times, rejected monarchy--first, by the adoption of parliamentary democracy after WWII, then, by the overthrow of the shah in 1979 and the installation of a parliamentary theocracy, which is now, ever so slowly, gradually returning to a parliamentary democracy again.

What makes the US government and the next in line to the throne think that Iran would embrace him? Reva Pahlavi would have to be installed by force and his place on the throne defended against the public will by force. It's painfully obvious. And, any support that the US might give Pahlavi's group to that end would, as in Iraq, constitute intervention for the sake of regime change, yet again calling into question US motives for war.

Seems the Bushies just don't care. What happens if, this time, when Andrew Card rolls out a new product in September, 2005, the rest of the world calls for economic sanctions against the US? Will they care then?

spent on the inauguration was appropriate because it would honor the troops?
