Robert McChesney is on now, talking about election coverage
John Nichols is saying that the Iraqi election is more like a Soviet show election, as opposed to the South African elections

he was in SA, and has personally witnessed many other third world elections

talking about how democracy does not flourish under gunpoint

it's also a pledge show, and they need support

I just gave

4. now discussing what they say is one of key issues confronting
democracy, and the point of RMPD, concentrated power of corporate media

they say that those in power fiercely resist change, and media are at the top of said list

shows like this, democracy now, etc., who have almost no financial backing, are invaluable in keeping people informed; that corporate media only serves the interests of those in power.

so wise up; ante up!

pretty soon outlets like this won't be there

6. now discussing how people like Goodman, Flanders, myriad others
can NOT get on corporate media, the socalled liberal media, how it is destroying our democracy

not that this is anything new around here, but the point is, unless these shows are supported, voices like this will be stilled

Nichols: real crisis in journalism today, causing pathology of democracy. as Jefferson, Madison, others have said, a free press is the cure to unbridled power

7. we now pay THIRTY times what Japanese by for highspeed
internet, on megabit basis

this, thanks to the 96 telecommunications act

way more than what they pay in Europe

we've gone from third to fifteenth in the world in some ranking of internet connectivity efficiency, or something
