No senator left behind? Well, one
http://www.omaha.com/index.php?u_pg=1636&u_sid=1328608

A trip that started in President Bush's limousine ended Friday with a stranded U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson hitching a ride in a 1989 Buick with a stranger.

Sen. Ben Nelson talks at UNO after riding there with a stranger. Earlier, President Bush agreed to a new nickname for Nelson: "Benator."

Nelson was happy, however, because the president had granted him a new nickname - "Benator."

At the start of the trip, Nelson pushed Bush to call him "Benator" rather than previous presidential nicknames that Nelson disliked, "Nellie" or "Benny."

The president agreed with a chuckle, Nelson said.

1. AND these legislators are fools who
allow him belittle them. His bestowing of nicknames dishonors the person by not giving them the dignity of their public name. Also, the nicknames he bestows tend to be snide and insulting.

4. Aren't there cabs in Omaha? As for the nickname...he should
tell Bush to shove it! Or call him one back. I'll bet that would get a response from the jerk.

Nelson was happy, however, because the president had granted him a new nickname - "Benator."

6. Hey, it was a hard-won victory
for our erstwhile Dem senator.
...Nelson told our Bret Schulte that he began a letter-writing campaign to Dubya for "something more macho," like Killer, Tiger, or Hunter. Along the way, Nelson received overtures to join the GOP or be Bush's agriculture secretary. Now he's the White House target to be the lone Senate Democrat backing Bush's Social Security reform. But that nickname. Maybe seeing an opening, Bush recently switched Nellie for "Bennie." But still. "If I can get him to go the next mile to 'Benator,' " says Nelson, "we can end negotiations." He adds that at least Bush "doesn't call me 'Pootie Poot,' " the prez's nickname for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Gimme one of those cool nicknames and I'll give you Social Security. That's fair, innit George? Right?... George?... Okay, I'll wait over here while you think it over. Don't keep me in suspense. Okay?

7. Getting a new nickname is...
..hard work. Who wouldda thunk a "benator" would go to such lengths to get a moronic chimpname. What an embarrassment.
