Jeff Gannon quits
Via atrios:

He links to Mr. Gannon's site where there is now this message:

http://jeffgannon.com/

"Because of the attention being paid to me I find it is no longer possible to effectively be a reporter for Talon News. In consideration of the welfare of me and my family I have decided to return to private life.

Thank you to all those who supported me."

There will be much more on this in the days weeks and months ahead. The surface is just marred, not even scratched.

5. Who is going to follow up? He's protected by the WH
The MSM will not expose him to the rest of the country just as they ignore other information that the rest of the country needs to know. Rush or Hannity certainly will not talk about him so who is going dig beneath the surface?

6. I would hope you are correct in your assessment of the
coming weeks.

I am just looking at the track record of how news items get buried if there is any connection at all to this administration.

How will this one manage to stay afloat?

Has Keith Obermann covered this?

14. Wishful thinking. The Busheviks have showed us how they handle
being caught in a lie.

Ignore, and tell six more lies, making your victims forget about all the lies you told previously.

It has worked to perfection, this strategy, as it worked for Hitler.

Like Hitler, the Busheviks control Law Enforcement and the part of the media they don't control, they have cowed.

Like the stolen elections in which evidence is simply laying about to the degree you'd think a small-town ADA with a $2,000 budget could uncover it, and yet...mysterious silence.

Or the Bushevik Anthrax Assassin "investigation" or the Bushevik Treasonous Plame Leaker "investigation".

If we lived in the Free World, I would say that there was a chance that you were right.

But we don't live in the Free World and there is as much chance of this as the Nazis investigating and exposing Julius Streicher, I'm afraid.

As much chance of this as Der Sturmer doing an expose on Goering's art thefts.

Sorry, don't kill the messenger. I've lived under Friendly Fascism for too long now to have any illusions about a BushPutinist State like Amerika.

4. Watch him get a job with the BFEE soon.
In the next Republican administration, he'll probably be the Press Secretary.

Loyalty to the Bush family does not go unrewarded.

Written like a true Freeper. Poorly constructed and putting himself 1st. Oh well, at least he has his escort service he can fall back on.

13. "Returning to private life"?!
Does he think being a reporter is being in the public sector? Maybe he WAS on the public dole, like Armstrong Williams et al. :eyes:

8. Did we approach the Gannon thing all wrong?
I've been wondering since this Gannon thing broke if maybe our tactics weren't misguided.

Instead of trying to get him out, would we have been better off trying to get a liberal counterpart IN? Find some progressive reporter with similar credentials and see if we can't get him in the gaggle. Seems to me it's a win-win for us.

Either they do not allow "our" guy in and we can use that to point out their propaganda hypocrisy or they do let our guy in and we now have someone who can throw tough questions out there. This, of course, ignores the fact that W would refuse to call on such a reporter.

But my suspicion is that they would have withheld credentials in the first place, and then we'd really have proof of bias, which might get mileage. As it stands, the WH can simply play dumb and claim they let Gannon in without realizing he was a shill. Additionally, this story has gotten no mainstream press - I wonder if a submarine tactic where the administration was allowed to step on its own dick might have paid off better all the way around.

Hmmm. Your detective skills are slipping, old man.

1) "Jeff Gannon" is the alias of "James (JD) Guckert." This has been established.

2) "Bedrock Corp" is registered to J Guckert, the same person who owns "JeffGannon.com"

3) Guckert also owns the gay military sites I posted above.

Is is that hard to figure out?

The guy was not a credit to the right. He wrote poorly written pieces. We can do much better. I'm glad to see him go, as he would only have been a distraction.

The WHITE HOUSE domain name was taken over by a porno site. You have absolutely no way of knowing whether those are Jeff Gannon's actual web sites and are passing along rumors which I find despicable.

This is the way the left works.

Smear, smear, smear.

There is something odd about this whole thing. I can't quite put my finger on it yet. However, I know when I see THREE newbies (the oldest was from October of last year, then December of 2004, then January of this year) all spreading these rumors from left-wing sites, my spidey senses tell me some people are up to no good, and whatever may be its purpose, it is definitely coordinated.

12. Man, Freepers are a pathetic lot.
They bitch whine and moan about the "liberal media", but when literally one of their own gets in, they bitch whine and moan about how it's unfair to oust him. So let me see, the logic is:

->Ask any non-fawning question: liberal elitist.
->Ask a question that uses clearly leading and insulting language about the opposition: fair and balanced.

Can you imagine the absolute ORGY of recrimination they'd engage in if a DU regular, with strong ties to the Democratic party, ever got into the gaggle. Holy Christ, they'd go batshit insane, to a person.

17. Pathetic Was The First Word I Thought Of, Too
Sad, undereducated, analytically challenged lot. These people actually think a reporter asking a question, in search of a truthful answer is Bush-bashing. Li'l Georgie has gotten so many passes from the media that he's about to pass Jerry Rice on the all-time list.

10. So in a nutshell .....
He didn't use his real name
He wasn't a reporter
He job was to plant easy questions and to change the topic if things got hot
for McCullen
Tied to a male escort service
Asked questions to help the gay hating faction of the repugs

Now, who paid him?

I tend to agree with you. He doesn't match the dynamic that is needed in an election year. I am sure that he is competent, hardworking and effective.....in house; but I agree that he is not a dynamic "podium man", and this year above all, Bush needs to be served by someone that can give back to the rabid hate-Bush crowd as good as it gets.

My only thought, somewhat tongue in cheek, as a replacement would be; if the press is successful in hounding Rumsfeld out of the Sec Def spot....you fill in the blanks. LOL!
