Has a McClellan/Guckert relationship been established?
Edited on Wed Feb-16-05 07:34 PM by senseandsensibility
I've been at work all day and have a question which I haven't seen answered in the threads here. Twice today on Air America, the host referred to a relationahip between Guckert and McClellan as if it were a known fact.

The first one was on Morning Sedition, when one of the Marks referred to McClellan as a douchebag closetcase, with no qualifier. Then Ed Shultz just blatantly stated there was a relationship between McClellan and Guckert.

Did something break here that I'm not aware of?

1. I bet a scouring of JD's bank account records would show a "connection"
:hi:

2. I haven't heard this, either....
I hope that if people are saying this that it has been proven. Otherwise, someone can upset the whole cart of very legit apples with such sloppy accusations.

9. Someone (brain fart, can't remember who) stated quite publicly
that Scott McClelland was a frequent visitor to DC gay bars.

I agree that even if this is true, it's a distraction.

The issue is getting a very sleazy character using an assumed name past Secret Service and the FBI.

Somebody had to be running interference, and Scotty aint got that kind of pull.

3. It may simply have to do with the fact that...
McClellan is the Press Secretary and Gannon is in the press corps.

5. But why would Mark Marin
call McClellan a closet case during a conversation about Guckert, and why would Shultz say very definitely that there is a relationship between McClellan and Guckert? I think he said they knew each other.

7. McClellan is gay?
http://www.drudge.com/weblog/5894/bush_calls_on_congress_to_renew_antiterror_l.html

RAW STORY has been told that the White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan visited a gay bar in Austin, Texas, on March 19, 1995. The date was placed exactly as a local memorial service was held on the same day.

I wonder what his mother, Carolyn Keaton Rylander Strayhorn De La Cruz Gonzales OMalley is thinking about this?

10. alls quiet on the libel and defamation suit front.
All they need to do is keep talking. If no suits are filed against AAR and the blogs (which if these guys are truly fundies they'll get all het up about it literally) then we will have our answer.

12. Be careful - a relationship could mean that Scott and JG talked about
soft ball questions as when Scott handed him the questions.

It doesn't have to mean the other thing.

16. They must have known each other.
Gannon couldn't have been chosen randomly from a field of wannabes for that press pass. As we know, Talon was started *after* Gannon got his start in the WH.

Someone will find that connection -- I'm guessing sooner rather than later.
