Question: Was Cannon/Guckert in WH during Ari Fleischer's term?
as press secretary? Ari Has not been gone that long? And if Cannon showed up during Ari's tenure, did Scotty McClellan have enough pull at that time to get him in the White House? I may be jumping in the middle of something that has already been discussed??

2. From what I read...it was discovered today that Gan/Gurk was there
during last part of Ari's stay. AND...breaking tonight on AmericaBlog, it seems that Gurkert wasn't working for Talon until Scotty came on board.

So...he appeared under Ari...but got credentials under Scotty. Hope that helps... There are some posts on DU Front Page.

Yes...what's the connection to Ari... and it's worse that Gan/Gurk got in without any backing at all....Sort of blows Kurtz's defense of the victim of Bloggers defense out the window...doesn't it...

16. Snotty's Just One Gatekeeper
His beat is keeping the White House propaganda machine in synch with the House propaganda machine with the Senate machine with the hate radio machine with the christian radio machine with the corporate media machine...each with gatekeepers and bag men and women.

While I think Snotty was aware of "Gannon" and could yield a lot of interesting testimony if put under oath, he's not the one who got "Gannon" into that room...that came from on higher...and Snotty was told the "this guy's ok" deal.

The people who also could shed light on this were many of the "mainstream" "journalists" who sat in that briefing room and the gaggles and saw this guy come and go for the past 2 or more years. "Gannon" doesn't seem like the shy violet...I wonder what "small talk" he'd do with a David Gregory or John King. How about if there was any wondering who this guy was. Cushy media gigs are jewels in the crown...everyone who gets there knows everyone elses story. The silence from this group is the most deafening. I'm sure if this scandal blows big, they'll be the first with the "tell all" books.

One new question that popped in my addled brain tonight was around WHO found "Gannon". From what we have found, he seemed to have become an "activist" while at college in PA (someone had their web page linked) and who got him into Blackwell's school.

I get this strange feeling "Gannon" could give us a lot of gifts...I'm really hoping the right wing and his former "friends" toss him like a bad habit...and he feels spurned. That could start some real fireworks...and we'll know this scandal really is hitting home when the talking heads start covering their asses by going after each other. I have to stop dreaming this way...

5. Story from GOPUSA re Ari (and Jeff)
"Talon News White House Correspondent Jeff Gannon expressed surprise at Ari's announcement. "There was no indication that Ari would be leaving any time soon," Gannon said. "Ari has skillfully handled a sometimes hostile and unruly crowd in the press room."
-snip-
Pentagon spokesman Victoria Clarke and Republican strategist Ed Gillespie have been named as possible replacements. However, many predict the job will go to White House Deputy Press Secretary Scott McClellan.

"Scott McClellan would be an able successor to Ari Fleischer," Gannon added.

The Ari Fan Club, sponsored by Probush.com, has already started an on-line petition to bring Ari back. Fans of Fleischer can mourn over his resignation and buy official Ari gear."
http://web.archive.org/web/20030522062057/http://www.gopusa.com/news/2003/may/0520_fleischer.shtml

Gannon ran the Ari Fan Club, if you have the stomach to check it out.

13. He was involved with it
I don't know if I can prove it now, but a week ago I was fishing for stuff he and others from Talon had written -- and they post at every small wacko site you can imagine -- and my google led me here, to one of the pieces of fan mail.

I think he discusses Ari on FR -- that he was involved with the cake.

Sorry I didn't pay closer attention. If I can find the link again -- tough because Talon is stripping any writing by Gannon -- I will PM you with a solid connection.

10. Is this the link where Gannon/Gurkert posts pix of Birthday Cake for Ari
Edited on Thu Feb-17-05 01:12 AM by KoKo01
on Talon Web site? What's amazing is that I remember at the time of "Ari" when I was here on DU and some of our DU gays said their "gaydar" went off when they saw Ari. But, then Ari got married...so who knows.

 He did have a big fan club and sort of started the fad of the "Metro-Sexual" stud look. The glasses the "bald head" (which photos show Bush really loves to take a "feel of.")

Who knows....Ari's parents are Dems btw and he graduated from "Middlebury College" hardly a hot bed of Repugs. But then he disappeared after Bush...he's got a book coming out though...no revelations the reviewers said...and he probably has a "discreet but high paying cushy job in some Repug Corporatist firm.

But...if he was "sneaked in during Ari" who knows if he was a buddy of Ari's or just a Bush appointee.

6. Indeed he was
"Jeff" got his first White House pass on April 3, 2003. Ari announced his intention to resign on May 19, 2003. I don't know whether Scotty's pull helped "Jeff" get in, but "Jeff" was pulling for Scotty. Here's what he had to say (from the GOPUSA web site):

Talon News White House Correspondent Jeff Gannon expressed surprise at Ari's announcement. "There was no indication that Ari would be leaving any time soon," Gannon said. "Ari has skillfully handled a sometimes hostile and unruly crowd in the press room."
...
"Scott McClellan would be an able successor to Ari Fleischer," Gannon added.

19. At the press briefing last week
McClellan said that "as the press secretary, I don't think it's the role of the press secretary to get into picking or choosing who gets press credentials."

But perhaps it is the role of the deputy press secretary.

12. The date he started at the White House seems to be going further back
every day this story continues...Sheesh...maybe he came in with "The Selection" under GOPUSA credentials?

There's so much we still don't know about Gan/Gurk.. The missing years...what was he doing for over 20 years after getting out of West Chester College...if he really even attended or graduated. Some frat brothers of his claim to know him...but he said he attended PA State University system school... Nothing he says seems to make sense.

Where was he born...who is his family? Sisters, Brothers? Why did he pick the name "Jeff Gannon?" What's the connection. This man is a total mystery in many ways. One wonders how he was let in if he wasn't a "fav" of someone in this administration.

14. Your questions are the same ones I want to see answered!
WHO is this guy, really?? I sense a CIA connection.

I wonder about the CIA. Poppy was once head of the CIA and still gets briefings. So maybe his connections put the CIA at the beck and call of his evil spawn "Dubya".

But lately it seems there's been a falling out btw the Bush crime family and the CIA. All those people forced out by Goss... suppose the CIA had assisted the Bushies with "Gannon", but suppose now the CIA (or some of the members who recently were forced out) decided to blow the whistle on that cozy little set-up, by letting Gannon be exposed?

If that's what's happening, all I can say is, "Go, CIA guys!"

More of those websites were active then.
Gannon also had a court reporting and secretarial service
but then Delaware went and decided that
they needed to institute some kind of minumum standards and accountability
and so they did, in November 2002.
I guess that meant the Jeffie needed to hustle up a new gig.
Here is a sampling of the work of Jeff Gannon
dating from BEFORE the inception of Talon News.
