Poll question: Taking the high ground, or being doormats?
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. We all know the Republicans have been using a scorched-earth PR policy against Democrats and "evul libruls" for quite some time. Historically, we've responded by taking the high road, being above all that meanness, but lately, I'm seeing some signs that some of us are tired of playing Mr. Nice Guy all the time.

So how do you feel about this?

5. Yup, and only a fool
comes barehanded to a knife fight!

Turning the other cheek works just fine for most things, but in politics, it's a recipe for disaster.

4. The way i look at it.....
Republicans aren't really ready for Democrats to hand their asses to them.

So we have no choice but to do it.

But we've got to keep factual at the same time. No spewing crap that is actually a lie.

But whent hey screw up - and they all seem to screw up real big, all the time, just hand their ass to them.

6. Absolutely.
Scorched earth doesn't mean making up lies, but it does mean using their own framing and innuendo tactics right back at 'em - going on the offensive instead of forever being on the defensive.

The movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer" put it really well. Don't play not to lose. Play to WIN.

7. Being right doesn't mean you have to fight clean.
Really, it's always struck me that you don't have to stoop to using Republican tactics to deliver nothing but body blows to them. You just have to be relentless in the attack.

11. That's been their strength...
being relentless. We, on the other hand, have timidly backed off too often, saying, "well, maybe you have a point there."

SCREW conciliation!

8. Two things
Make sure it is real fire and use only real fire, although this is legitimate payback for the allowing speculation by absolute unaccountable privacy in the WH.

Remember while we are remaining pure, maybe not as pure as the lace underwear DLC, people are dying, going broke and worse every day because of the deference, the one sided keeping of gentlemanly rules when there is no case for libel or any movement to investigation or indictment for the worst suspicious activities America has ever known.

Are there rules? Yes. Don't look stupid or extreme when the nuggets of truth are just lying there abandoned on the ground. Personal honor, myths?

When the nukes hit US you will wish you had gone after these guys with bazookas but it will be too late. Successful deflection from the truth will guarantee the MASSIVE deflection already set up once the country is hit again. It will be too late. it is not a question of who is better than who. This is a crisis battle for the truth. If you would rather have a blood and guts crisis where truth will be permanently sacrificed to a "united" effort, such as WWII, keep acting civilized, because in this nation it is only an act.

Any speculation is justified, any barbed meme that moves to getting at the truth, any pressure to bear on the three monkey establishment. Breathing space means the silent treatment and eventually their OWN scorched earth attack on us which I am sure is in the works, not just on the planning board.

10. You make a really good point...
in many ways, taking the high ground against evil means being complicit with it - if we do not use whatever means necessary to remove those doing evil, then we are accomplices.

Oh, and I like "lace underwear" DLC. ;-)

9. I Cannot Tolerate Bullying. Sorry.
Rethugs are like sharks and piranhas, they sense WEAKNESS and they move in for the kill.

Being accommodating and nice never worked for dealing with bullies when I was a kid, and I doubt it works any better as an adult.
