Lawrence King, a 300-pound pedophile from Nebraska, Gray's home state, was alleged in 1984 to have operated a branch of the call-boy business in partnership with Harold Andersen, then publisher of the Omaha Herald, and a close friend of Gray's. King, a baritone, sang the National Anthem at the 1984 and 1988 Republican conventions.

King enjoyed Republican society and took his conservative politics seriously. In 1987 he donated $25,350 to Citizens for America, an organization that arranged speaking tours around the country for Lt. Col. Oliver North.

In October 1988, King's Franklin Community Credit Union was raided by the FBI and IRS. A month later the Treasury Department filed suit to recover the $34 million that had disappeared from Franklin's vaults under King's management.

Before his arrest, King had commuted often to Washington, D.C. He was a business partner in a call-boy operation run by the late Craig Spence, whose antics were the subject of a week-long series published by the Washington Times in July 1989. The expose was immediately occasioned by the resignation of an aide to Elizabeth Dole. In his resignation letter, the aide complained that one of Spence's male prostitutes, had blackmailed him with threats of disclosure. The Times reported that Spence, a former ABC reporter, was said to have been running a CIA blackmail operation: Spence's Victorian Mansion on Wyoming Avenue, where he often threw parties for Washington's power elite, was "planted with electronic bugs and video recording equipment that, according to homosexual call-boys and others who routinely visited the house, was used to make incriminating tapes to blackmail guests." The parties were attended by the likes of William Casey, Ted Koppel, John Mitchell and Eric Severeid. A political tempest threatened when Spence's credit card receipts implicated Reagan and Bush appointees, but few names reached the public print.

And because I believe that there is a lot more to this story than has been realized, and that there are some things that might be put together from a study of it. I lived through this as a local story, and I'm sorry to say that I'd almost forgotten about it. If I'm spamming it, It's because I think it does relate to a lot of GOP sex scandal stuff that's being looked into now.

is the presence of a homosexual in the press corps should not rightly be linked to a 15 year old pedophilia scandal.

I know a lot of people, and evidently you're one of them, automatically make a link in their mind between homosexuals and pedophiles, but it's wrong, and it shouldn't be encouraged here.

I was reminded of the case by another thread, and the connection I'm making is between one kind of prostitution, and another. There was no DU, or even much of an internet when the Franklin Cover Up was getting press coverage. You're opposition to my pushing this story is misplaced. I'm pushing it in the hope that others might join me in following up on leads, and looking for connections. Having a homosexual aspect should not shield any crime, or criminal from investigation, or prosecution.

"other threads" have been posted here based on an online editorial that found the Gannon case "reminiscent" of a 15-year old pedophile case wherein somebody knew somebody who was a Republican fundraiser.

Why would the mere presence of Gannon in the press pool be "reminsicent" of an old pedophile scandal unless somebody associates homosexuality and pedophilia?

I think it's silly and insulting to link the two.

As someone born in Nebraska, I'm ashamed that, until reminded, I'd almost forgotten about this case. Homosexuality has as much to do with pedophilia, or prostitution, as heterosexuality has to do with pedophilia, or with prostitution. As soon as I do find a connection between the Franklin Cover Up, and Gannon, I'll let you know. Yes it is an old story, and I'm raising it from the grave.

Wall Street billionaire, WARREN BUFFETT, was on BOARD of BOYS TOWN and a close friend of L KING,JR who sang national anthem at RepublicanParty conventions in 1982 and 1986. It ismy understanding that BUFFETT is heavily invested in your state.
What is the attraction of pedophiles to your state if they are not protected by people in high places? During BO GRITZ trial prosecution was forced to release to defense the heretofore sealed and suppressed MASSAMENO REPORT which recommended that ex-husband of LINDA WIEGAND be prosecuted or complaints made by the two said boys. However, the STATE ATTORNEY's office sealed the report and announced there was no evidence to prosecute said THOMAS WILKINSON.
Why? Maybe because he was employed by UNITED TECHNOLOGIES, the largest employer in your state, and GOV ROWLAND was a former lobbyist for UT.
And, now you have MAYOR GIORDANO of WATERBURY ( ROWLAND's hometown) in jail, busted by FBI for perverse sex acts with a child. Is there a pattern here or just a series of coincidences?
How high up does this go? Is it just another coincidence that SENATOR LIEBERMAN is a close friend of conservative WILLIAM BENNETT who was named with his brother, ROBERT, as a pedophile by the authors of TRANCE-FORMATION of AMERICA?
