1. Your categories
Your choices for the vote are really lacking. The number one reason is because many Democrats have values they are willing to live by, as opposed to pay lip service to.

2. most aren't doing either
they don't defend the values we elected them to defend, they don't live by them, or fight for them.

Even in the Clinton years, the best we could hope for is that he would balance the interests of regular people against corporations some of the time.

Do you really think there are that many idealists in there? I could probably name a half dozen decent senators, and maybe the same percentage of congressmen, but even the best aren't reliable.

I'd like an unapologetic New Dealer, and I don't see many.

3. Hatred, greed & selfishness
Very common human instincts that motivate most, if not all, of the electorate these days.

Everyone appears to be grabbing for as much as they can before the whole shit house goes up in flames.

Republicans & Democrats alike seem like they don't wanna be left out of the grand looting of what's left of America.

"Everyone appears to be grabbing for as much as they can before the whole shit house goes up in flames."

Of course, what they're going to do with all that money once the whole house of cards collapses is beyond me.

6. because they don't have a reliable Democratic base
who supports them like the Republican base supports their party. They concern themselves with playing to the center because they can't rely on the left for support. The way the questions on this poll are framed demonstrate that.
