Christian right mum on Gannon Affair
Why have the 'traditional family values' folks erected a wall of silence around the Gannon scandal?

Curious about this wall of silence, I phoned several Christian right groups on Tuesday, February 22, hoping to find someone who could comment on the Gannon Affair. This is what I found:

1. You seem to think the Christian right wing leaders believe what they say
They don't. It's all a scam to them.

They are being silent, because they don't want anything to mess up the good paying gig they got going.

2. The RW are no more moral or principled than a virus, that's why.
It's all about money and power. Unless sufficient numbers of renegade church members make a stink, they'll say nothing of the GAY SEX unless it becomes profitable to do so.

3. Well hopefully they will stifle the sanctity of marriage crap
they've been trying to shove down our throats this past year.

6. It's just that the campaign in opposition to Spongebob --
-- is simply a greater moral imperative.

You can't expect them to just DROP their virulent opposition campaign to SpongeBob to go after a hooker in the White House, can you?

Defending the Kingdom against insidious debaucheries like cartoon characters eclipses all other minor threats.

7. The Religious Right is a business, solely interested in making money and
acquiring power. They are silent because this scandal could negatively affect the sale of Republicanism as one of their products. They just hope if they keep quiet the whole thing will go away.

8. That's right
And like their cult leader, they never admit to any mistakes. Gannon was probably just an illusion. Hey, it is time to bring up Rather and Clenis isn't it?

9. Because the Christian Right is a criminal enterprise who would
think that a Rove "plant" in the White House Corps was a good strategy. The sooner the American people realize that the Christian Right has nothing to do with Jesus and everything to do with overthrowing the govt, and fattening the wallets of the leaders, the better. This is not about religion. It's about crime.
