Isn't it remarkable that all the madness and illegal activities of our
Presidents( Nixon, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.) and Senators ( McCarthy,Frist, Delay, Gingrich) and Secretaries ( Rumsfeld, Cheney,Rice,Powell) have come from the Republican side? Is it the water or some kind of pill these people are forced to take?

1. delusional infantile regressives are attracted to the repugs

because it requires no thought, and is based almost exclusively on the cathartic, as opposed to the cognitive.

That is, there are no 'gray' areas, only black and white, with us or against us.

2. All of that is fine!

But, they would have caused a national disaster, if they say, have sex outside of their marriage, then maybe they would have been whacked across their knuckles with a ruler!

4. Yep
When they say 'morals' they mean 'sex.' If it's not sexually related then it's not immoral. Having an affair: terrible. Killing thousands in war based on lies: acceptable.

11. Exactly...and the two go hand-in-hand....
sexual repression and violence. You have the conservative populace on one side with underutilized genitals embracing violence, and the liberal populace making love not war--or at least wanting to. This explains the why the religious righties are so gung ho for war...you gotta get you ya-yas off somehow!! If you can't fuck 'em, kill 'em.

Me, personally, I find it most amusing to watch these people being manipulated like cheap toys. I'm over my frustration and enjoying the show.

3. Case of ends justify the means, I think
All people are good at justifying their atrocities, the Right has just gone on a deliberate recruiting mission for those who are especially good at it. Their agenda harms far too many people to entrust it to individuals with a conscience.

6. Absolutely
It's a matter of achieving goals that will not positively affect the greater good, but rather a personal (and often dubious) agenda. Mix that with a lack of foresight, or a disregard for foresight, and you have corrupt Republican officials.

7. The Vietnam War was a Johnson-Stennis-McNamara Production
Balance, please. Plenty of Dems bought into the Cold War madness, fraud and illegalities.

Sorry about the cold water.

8. Cold water is fine
Edited on Mon Mar-07-05 10:00 AM by BeFree
But remember, it has always been progressives who got us out of those messes. Too, the cold war had some basis in reality; the Russians had quite the history of oppression.

While it is historically correct to point out the alliances between some dems and the lockstep marching pukes, it pays to remember that we, the opposition, negated the rightward slide with hardly any publickan help.

Yes, the dems were, for the most part, on our side. Never forget your friends, and always remember your enemies.

9. Forgive, but Don't Forget
Of course, it was the Democratic Left that pulled America out of the quagmire.

What do we get for thanks? Branded as commies. Ungrateful bastards.

10. You must remember
We are dealing with a mindset which relies on armed force to further their goals, whilst we consider armed force to be the last thing on our agenda.

The opposition is consumed with an animal mentality, while we are more humanely connected and prefer the use of discussion and communication to solve most imbalances.

It is far too easy to fall backwards and let the animal nature rule our actions, as evidenced by the lynch-mob like "Nuke 'em all" reactions we have to live with.

13. That's my thought too.
It's my feeling that conservatism is an unnatural state. Existence, physical reality, is in constant flux, always growing and adapting. The attempt to hold on to a particular moment or state--a physically impossible task--must burn out a few internal wires. Eventually one is reduced to caring only about those things that pertain to personal survival--the animal mentality.

Once that wall is breached, it's very difficult to rebuild.

16. The Breached Wall
A very apt analogy.

We must always remember that is who we are dealing with: individauls who have gone over the wall which separates humans from the rest of the animal kingdom.

I just read the following on another thread, and thought this might be a good place to pass it on.....

"You can be a hero instead of another cog in the repression machine trampling the Constitution and destroying American values. Some bullet-headed Fascists may not like you, but so what? They are the root of the problem! Please realize that you are responsible for your actions and the lame excuse of "I was just following orders" is no justification for violating people's human rights, any more than it was for Nazis at the Nuremberg trials . All that's necessary is for you to remember that you can choose to be a human being instead of a modern-day Nazi, and you will be a better person for doing so. You're supposed to be one of the good guys.."

12. Democrats have their fair share of slimeballs too
I mean, we still have the fucking Daleys running Chicago and pretty much all of Illinois. We had Traficant. He had what's his name...something Polish... from Illinois who did time recently. We had the entire state of Louisiana.

Most politicians should be scrutinized very carefully. I think the main difference is Democrats commit their crimes locally. Republicans think globally.

15. People with mental disorders usually receive treatment
I had depression, I got it treated. Apparently if you are Conservative and Wealthy, and you are diagnosed with a mental disorder that means you would soon receive a nice position in the government.
