Muslim American: A new identity? (Repuglican Muslims WTF???)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/this_world/4347061.stm

Muslim American: A new identity?

..."Traditionally, Muslims have voted Republican because of their emphasis on moral values and a strong belief in God, but in 2004 many considered switching to the Democrats, hoping they would be less of a threat to Muslims both in America and abroad."...

..."Salman decided to visit his aunt, Seeme Hasan. Seeme and her husband Dr Hasan remain staunch supporters of President Bush.."

..."So strong are their convictions for Bush that they set up Muslims for Bush, a website that encouraged Muslims to vote Bush into office for a second term."...

1. Why, my fellow Muslims?

The Republicans aren't your friends, do you know who Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, James Dobson, Paul Weyrich, Bill Lind, and Don Wildmon are?

These people are:

Strong figures in the RW (Republican Party)

AND

They do not love you at all

It's like Black people joining the KKK or Jews joining the Nazi party.

5. Some Muslims like Some Christians
are more focused on preserving ancient tribal beliefs based on ignorance and custom not on love and reason. I fully believe that Social Conservative Muslims should probably be voting for Bush. Then again I see very little difference between Bush and Bin Laden. Both are world terrorists and villains who strive to enforce theocracy. The religious right isn't a Christian only thing.

What I'm worried is that the Mullah's in Iran, the Wuhabbists in Arabia and the American religious right will realize that they have MUUUCH more in common with each other than they think. Good thing that they tend to hate each merely for being superficially different or civilized people would be in real trouble.

7. We are in trouble
Maybe the people don't realize how much they have in common, but the leaders do. That's why the regimes that feel threatened by those who support human rights have always opposed Democrats. Remember Jimmy Carter?

10. Yeah but Reagan still had the USSR to fight.
In the post soviet era the hawks still need a target and are no longer encumbered by an opposing super power looking for reasons to get angry.

I'm telling ya we are VERY lucky that the religious right hates "heretics" more than they hate liberals. I could never picture Jerry Falwell or John Ashcroft calling for Iranian & Wuhabbi leaders to join them in some sort of unholy alliance.

Hope I'm not being naive. =)

4. This is a bunch of crap
Kerry won a majority of Muslim votes this time.

But of course some will continue to vote repuke because of gay marriage, even though they are voting for someone that appoints people to the judiciary that will allow them to be tortured and detained with no representation.

Fuck those people. They're like the Capos in Germany...Basically Jews for Hitler.

11. I don't know of any Muslims who voted for Bush in 2004
I knew some who voted for him in 2000 - but all of them changed their minds.

I'm sure scant few voted for him last year - seriously. I'm thinking that ANYBODY can make themselves sound like "a force" on line.

Thanks for this webside, woosh.

13. You're probably right.
I'm confusing Arab with Muslim. Certainly Arabs still voted for him.

9. It takes all types, said the following people:
The Jew who supported Hitler's slaughter of Jews.

The African who sold out his own to American slave traders.

The homosexual passing legislation that put his fellow gays into prison.

Always has been. Always will be.

So why should I be surprised now? :eyes:
