Shunning as a political Tool?
I hadn't really thought about this much. But shunning is a huge tool here in the midwest.

People who disagree are simply shunned and then they get scared and shut up.

And the constitution doesn't say anything about it at all.

Good heavens.

Look how GW has used it? His town meetings where only the faithful are allowed to speak. Those who speak in disagreement are simply shunned and shamed until they speak no more.

Its really a very old technique.

9. damn, that's true. women are vicious.
I watch these competitive reality shows and the difference in the way that women treat their co-competitors and the way that men do is stunning.

we absolutely rip each other apart. On Survivor and MTV's reality game shows, it just stuns me how heartless and cruel we women are to each other, it's either the passive-aggressive shunning thing (which is always a group effort) or it's the in your face name calling.

Whereas it is so striking to me how respectfully men treat each other, at least face to face. They always give respect and touch by shaking hands and their greetings seem so warm they are almost, well, feminine. This is such a cultural oddity. I don't know if it is because men have to give the right signals all the time to keep from getting badly hurt in physical fights since they have so much muscle, or if it really isn't an act and this is real warmth that males display for each other. I'd love some feedback from men about this.

5. Timeless
I read somewhere in an anthropology study how human beings can willfully die from being shunned by their tribe.

Too bad it won't work on the rethuglicans, they are too insulated by stupidity to feel ashamed of themselves.

6. They just use it against their opponents.
Everyone else is too polite to shun them back.

8. In many cases, if you're shunned, it means you're doing something right.
I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you don't have any respect for those shunning you to begin with.
