Kyyyrist! TV news really *is* a wasteland!
Edited on Tue Mar-15-05 11:48 AM by KansDem
This morning as I was getting ready for work, my daughter, home this week due to Spring Break, turned on the TeeVee for a few moments of amusement. She had the news on and this is what was covered during the half-hour or so of parts I was able to watch while preparing for my work day:

1. Michael Jackson trial.
2. A car rammed into local ATM machine at high speed. The “journalists” assured us (in all seriousness) that the ATM was located in a parking lot back from the street far enough that the clean-up operations would not slow down morning traffic.
3. Local man gunned down after dispute.
4. Feature on the woman who talked the gunman out of the hostage situation (yesterday?). This included an interview with the minister of the church the woman used to attend.
5. Feature on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, including clips of rockers, past and present.
6. 7-day weather forecast
7. Michael Jackson trail

No mention about the ANWR vote tomorrow, or anything else for that matter! It's no wonder Bush and his thugs are literally getting away with murder, along with other miscreant behavior.

1. Americans..
.... are seeing this excuse for the news because that is what they want to see, that is what gets viewers.

Americans don't wish to be bothered with the pointless policy arguments.

2. Well, they want to sell us on the Michael Jackson Trial.
They are hoping for another OJ Simpson Trial of the Century.

Anything to distract Americans from the real issues.

3. You'd never know there was a war.....
We have a bubble boy for a president, and a bubble media to "cover" him....As my bumper sticker says, "Go back to sleep America, your government is in control..."

4. That's why my TV is either OFF
or tuned to Simpsons reruns during the evening propaganda hour. I refuse to participate in sham news and I refuse to deliver their sponsors a warm body to advertise to.

Jon Stewart was right. They're not just incompetent. They're hurting us!

5. To quote an Iraq War veteran
"Americans just want the steak -- they don't want to know where it came from."

7. I used to be a news junkie
91-92 gearing up for the election got me hooked on CNN and PBS. LOVED the old Crossfire - never missed it! After 94 with OJ Simpson it became so "lowest common denominator" - appealed to the masses. I gave up and when I occasionally tune in I realize for over 10 years I haven't missed a damn thing.

8. I stopped watching T.V. in the morning when I realised that
that there was little difference between the programming and the commercials....mindless useless drivel...ALL.
