Is it just Arkansas that has masses of uneducated? What I read in
the paper today. One asks, "What is with this Social Security business?" Then he states, "Now, I surely don't know or care much about worldly matters, for all these things are passing away.." He goes on to say the problem is the 72 million abortions have taken money out of SS for 32 years and that if each of those had contributed $25 a week to SS, we'd be raking in $1.8 billion at week and there wouldn't be any underfunding of SS!

Next letter to the editor claims Terri Shiavo 'has more faculties than did Christopher Reeve - he could not breathe on his own." And, "Do you think that there is no pain in dying from starvation?" "Whatever happened to the saying 'Where there's life, there's hope?'"

1. No wonder you picked that moniker...
If I read that paper I'd have a sinking feeling, too.

The dumbing down of America :dunce: is nearly complete. :hurts:

2. Why doesn't Wal-Mart hire her (TS)?
And pay her medical bills? She'd make the PERFECT greeter (no complaints and could just sit there 80 hours a week) and it would show tons of compassion on Wal-Mart's part!

Arkansas Fascist Gazette! I can't even bear to touch that one! But I have 2 yound dogs and since I cancelled by newspaper after Nov. , and REALLY needed some newspaper, I brought a huge stack of the Gazette home from work. My mistake, was that I read all the letters to the editor! I saved them for a month or so and was going to give DUers a couple of the Democrat-bashing examples. Later decided, you guys just couldn't handle the TRUTH!!

Corrected typo

7. Of course it isn't just Arkansas.
A pro-Bush pre-election LTTE in our Ohio paper acknowledged that Kerry would be good for the economy, but concluded that we aren't supposed to concern ourselves with money issues. Moral issues (controlling other people's lives, for instance) were proposed to be paramount.

Raaaaptuuure!

A couple of LTTEs, and you smear a whole state.

10. Maybe, if you want it to be so. I live here and I've read LTTEs
like this every day and have semi-discussions with people every day. This state is among the poorest and least educated in the country and there is no denying that. The school system in 75% to 80% is absolutely awful. This is partially due to the refusal to merge school districts. Last year they finally decided that districts with less than 400 students (K-12) would have to merge. Arkansas also has the second largest concentration of Southern Baptists in the country. They seem to deny anything that is related to science and are constantly seeking to ban library books!

Now I know that the population of the US is diverse everywhere you go. I have lived in 7 other states and spent 3 or more months living in another 3. There are many liberal and progressive people in Arkansas, but we are sure out-numbered.

12. Since you have lived in ten states,
you already know the answer to your question. I've been around a bit myself and have found ignorant, hateful people, along with some really good ones, everywhere I've ever been.

13. Oh?
You're prejudiced against Southern Baptists, too? Like Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, perhaps? Lots of liberal Southern Baptists.

They try to ban books up North, too. Just different ones. Huckleberry Finn, one of the greatest novels ever written, for example, a few years back.

It all depends on whose ox is gored.
