Laura weighs in
"I just feel like the federal government has to be involved," Mrs. Bush said. "It is a life issue that really does require government to be involved."

"I am not surprised over the debate," Mrs. Bush said. "I think it's an issue that, you know, everyone is concerned about and interested in."

"I'm sorry for the family that it has to be so public. This is such a very, very difficult time for them and for everyone who watches Terri."

Wow empty statements what a surprise. What role should the government play in life issues? What exactly is a life issue? Well no matter I'm sure she'll expand on that at a later date... Then there's her non-shock people enjoy over sensationalize non-events. She must watch FOX a lot. Well at least she has time to feel sorry for the family that it has to be so public? Well it didn't HAVE to be. THEY MADE IT. Oh well off to Afganistan to do... well something. Afganistan?

That's because she relates to Terri, since Laura doesn't have a fully functioning brain, either.

3. I wonder
Who exactly else watches Terri besides the family? OK a few doctors and nurses. Should we take "watches" to include those that use snakes to divinely communicate with her? Or is seeing a picture of her at age 15 good enough for Laura.

4. Well, hell yeah
Who wants Dubya to have final say when they're incapacitated? If I were Laura, I'd make sure the feds got involved early and often.

Sure, Laura. Maybe you should mention that to George and Jeb.

9. The word HAS seems interesting
How many other people are in the that hospice? How many of those peoples lives have been made public? Seems to me pretty simple. This sort of life issue doesn't have to be made public. It is in general a very private matter. It's only when the family MAKE it public and the politicians and the Terrivision station sign on for the ride does it become public.

Most people would think being the president or his wife would make most of your life decisions public matters for discourse. Yet how often does any public media outlet talk about the private lives of these two people. The public knows more about the life and death of Terri than I do the life of GWB or his wife. Scary.

6. Oh well off to Afganistan to do... well something. Afganistan?
Does the naive Mrs. Bush realize that if the Taliban had signed onto the pipeline deal in 1997 that the women of Afghanistan would not be a second, third or fourth thought on the minds of the people who have infested our present government?? I think not.

http://www.now.org/search/search.cgi?query=taliban+unocal&submit=Search%21&metaname=swishdefault&si=0&.cgifields=metaname&.cgifields=si

http://www.now.org/nnt/fall-98/global.html

Unocal, a U.S.-based oil and gas company, plans to build a multi-billion dollar pipeline through Afghanistan that would result in hundreds of millions of dollars for this oppressive regime. D.C. activists picketed Unocal's headquarters and Houston Area NOW demonstrated in front of Unocal's office in Sugar Land, Texas, calling upon the company not to collaborate in gender apartheid in Afghanistan. The Houston chapter had previously picketed Unocal in March; following that protest, the Houston Chronicle published an editorial criticizing corporate support for the Taliban.

Sue Ann Lorig, chair of Houston Area NOW's Task Force on Ending Violence Against Women, stated: "Just as America condemned corporations willing to stoop to doing business with South Africa while apartheid was in effect, America will not tolerate Unocal placing corporate greed above the fundamental rights to education, health care and employment of over half the population of Afghanistan."

she would've encouraged her husband to butt out. The government has no place. I'm tired of rightwingers butting into everything from the bedroom and hospitals to now pharmacy's. :banghead: Can you please butt out of everything in my life? Laura's a big rightwing media whore too.
