Malloy just totally DISSED NYT's Dowd

He read her column last week that decided that we were living in a theocracy. And Malloy had a "No Shit, Sherlock" moment. Then castigated her for her articles slamming Clinton and Gore (particularly Gore in 2000), and ended with (paraphrased) "So next time you want to complain about theocracy...consider your own part in it."

At least Dowd seems to have seen the Light, though... Better late than never.

Malloy's catchphrases of late center around how hopeless and lost we are. I'd rather read a columnist with a few interesting insider observations than listen to Malloy essentially suck all the hope out of the room each time.

It's time for a new progressive movement - independent of the Corporate-mobbed up Dems so prevalent today.

Mike's an old man - he's just speaking the truth and desperately trying to light a fire under the disaffected Dems and Progressives who are the future - surely, pointing out the truth about "The Best Democracy Money Can Buy" is valuable in and of its self.

His activist days are ebbing - he's a spokesman for us truth seekers - but it's up to US to change the world.

with a few likewise depressed listeners, followed by angry naysaying of an optimistic listener.

Imho, his opinions of the DNC aside, he needs to find ways to inspire truth seeking by progressives rather than disinspire it with his 'aging activist' negativism.

If you are going to motivate revolution, you have to find a way to connect and inspire change.

Malloy doesn't do that - he just riles people up without clear avenues for their anger. There's little difference between him doing that and Rush Limbaugh doing that... in both cases entertainment wins over substantive change.

Can you blame him for letting it show?

Personally, I don't like the "well, its useless" tack malloy has, but his insights into things are usually dead on. And just because he's a cynical pessimist, doesn't mean he's wrong. I think of listening to malloy as a way of exorcising my own desperation and frustration...giving it an outlet, so to speak.

Although I can't recall the title of the Op-Ed in question, I can still remember with disblief Dowd's pointless mocking of Al Gore's bald spot, and that all the Rogaine in the world won't help. My reaction was "and...? What does this have to do with Gore's qualification against Bush in 2000?"
