Laura Bush Dons Sackcloth to Visit Afghanistan >>>

She's sort of stepped back from attending Manhattan fashion shows to trying to disguise herself as an oppressed third world woman. Who was the stylist on this photo-op? I think it's slightly overstated.

U.S. first lady Laura Bush speaks to reporters on board her plane en route to Kabul, Afghanistan, Tuesday, March 29, 2005. Laura Bush says she has been waiting a long time to tell the women of Afghanistan that American women stand with them. (AP Photo/Charles Dharapak)

1. I'm sure the women in Afghanstan really give a shit.
THe women in America don't even stand for themselves, they have a woman-hating administration derstroying both our country and theirs right now. Why should them listen to this Stepford-wife atonotram?

4. Democratic Afghanistan has a 100m radius of US mercenaries protecting ...
... Karzai.

So much for freedom.

The burkas are back. Someone oughta tell Pickles.

20. Exactly
Afghanistan, to all intents and purposes, is held and controlled by either the Taliban or the warlords/druglords. This would become more apparent as spring arrives, attacks reduced during the winter but will increase over the spring and summer.

Canada is increasing the number of troops there because they cannot venture further than Kabul at this point.

7. It kind of reminds me of Condi in her Nazi suit in Germany
Don't these people have any clue as how to dress?

Who's paying for her globe trotting to try to make her husband palatable? Can hardly wait for his legacy to come out. He hurt his country and the world but his stepford wife did her job. One for robots. He's killed our kids with no resolve www.icasualties.org but he and Laura never talk about such things.

15. A shawl with a pinstripe suit? Oh yeah, that really works.
That first jacket in the original post is butt-ugly, IMO. Doesn't do a thing for her. Doesn't she understand that her clothing is supposed to enhance her image, not make her more dowdy?

18. I think it was for her to wear over her head
like the ladies in the 2nd photo? It would have been a nice gesture of respect for their culture, imo.

with a stand-in and saved themselves the trouble. What a waste of fuel, time, money, and carbon.
