Catholic Leaders Blast Madonna and Ritchie
<http://imdb.com/news/wenn/2005-03-30/#2>

Some words of love from the America's Catholic League:

Madonna and her film-maker husband Guy Ritchie have infuriated religious chiefs following their decision to attend a party dressed as a nun and the Pope respectively - at a time when Pope John Paul II is becoming increasingly frail.

<snip>

America's Catholic League president William Donahue says, "It just goes to show you what a moral slug this man is

<snip>

We Catholics thought we had finally gotten rid of the witch when she (Madonna) discovered Kabbalah."

:eyes: I"m a Catholic and this dressing as A pope going to a party doesn't bother me any. There has been more than one pope thoughout history. But, freepers don't bother with actual history, just the facts they make up in their heads (WMDs anyone?)

Seriously, does anyone think Ritchie said "Gee, I"m going to MAKE FUN of the pope and dress up like him."? I seriously doubt it.

Oh, let's have something else to argue about, religious leaders of America, because there hasn't been quite enough religion thrown at us lately. :eyes:

1. This Reptile Donahue Needs To Find Honest Work
To make a living off a thin skin and a sense that the world is against you is contemptible.

This wretch deserves every bit of disrespect he can cull out of the world around around him.

The universe has a way of revealing yourself to you.

2. More manufactured outrage.
I'm kind of glad that that is the worst affront to Catholicism this week. I don't think I can take any more persecution complexes on display.

4. If you are going to blast Madonna and her husband
one needs to look no further than his epic remake starring her of "Swept Away."

6. Yeah, the reviews for that were definitely purgatory on earth
for Mr. and Mrs. Ritchie.

...Now, what I'd like to see is for HIM to show up as the nun and HER as the Pope(with Kabbalah string.)

7. You know its bad when even the critics who try to find something good
to say about a movie were wretching. Now seeing Madonna as the Pope would have been hilarious.

8. Of Course, Sir
The original movie was rather a waste of time and celluloid as well....

11. Very, very true
Then in Madonna who can't act to save her life and you have all the ingredients for a disaster.

10. I don't understand
why Catholics don't object to William Donohue. He's done far more harm to the church than madonna could ever do.
