"George W. Bush has had a longer period of positive support than any president in modern history."

3. This was a quote from Gingrich
but it identically resembles every other instance I've seen of it. The reference is to alleged support in the polls, ostensibly from average American voters, for George W. Bush's handling of the presidency since 9-11.

Now I wonder if they are truly so clueless, these idiots like Gingrich, that they don't know how to read polling trends.

2. Bolstered by..................
their constant fear mongering. No President has had to handle the events of recent history either. We're all aware of how well he's handled these events, and now, thankfully, the American public is starting to wake up to the cold reality that Bush has mishandled them as well. This is a VERY hollow statistic, and if they're counting on something like this to bring their boy home in '04, they're in for a big surprise.

4. Proof yet again...
that logic is an alien concept to these people. This is a logical fallacy known as the "appeal to popularity". Popularity is no indicator of anything at all, especially since the taste and judgement of the majority is in most instances rather suspect. (Just look at the New York Times bestseller list, the Billboard charts or the Neilsen ratings for verification of this.)

And Adolf Hitler probably had the greatest sustained popularity and public approval of any leader in the twentieth century. Someone should point that out to Mr. Gingrich. Although I think the irony would probably be wasted on him, sadly.

5. But has the longevity of his popularity in polls
exceeded Hitler's yet? (Things that make you go "Hmmmmm.")
