Judge Gives Teen Cell Phone Privileges (over Father's objection)
http://abcnews.go.com/wire/US/ap20030915_1028.html

A New Jersey mother and father weren't able to connect on cell phone privileges for their daughter, so they took it to court.

The 13-year-old girl lives with her mother, but visits her father each week.

Her father, Frank Mellace, prohibited her from using the cell phone because she was getting so many calls.

Mellace told the judge he was trying to protect his daughter after learning she had described herself on the Internet as "single, sexy and sweet," and told people to call her.

<snip>
(The mother had said she carried the phone for safety).
The judge reinstated the girl's phone privileges but told her she was not allowed to use it during dinnertime.

1. Pathetic, truly and hopelessly pathetic.
Is this what parenting has come down to? Only in America will one parent sue another over a 13 yr olds phone privileges! It's a truly sad statement on two adults total inability to parent the child they chose to bring into the world. How pathetic

2. They actually went to court for this?
People really need to grow up! Let's keep the court rooms open for families that have REAL problems, shall we?

Here's an idea:
Daughter can use the cell phone when she's with Mom, but when she visits Dad she has to follow his rules, which means no phone.

Frankly, I think Mom and Dad should forget about the cell phone dispute and start monitoring their 13 year old's internet habits.
