There goes that MYTH of bush as "popular president"
bush; most UNPOPULAR president EVER in second term.

Here are the ratings for presidents as recorded by Gallup in the March following their re-election: '

Truman, 1949: 57%.

Eisenhower, 1957: 65%.

Johnson, 1965: 69%.

Nixon, 1973: 57%.

Reagan, 1985: 56%.

Clinton, 1997: 59% .

Bush, 2005: 45%

There's a "mandate" for you. 11 points less popular than the next least popular president at this point in their term.

9. Gee Dubya The Millstone: A Faint Glimmer of Hope for 2008
A faint glimmer of hope for Democrats and that part of the electorate NOT taken in by Banana Republican/"Conservative" flim-flam is that Gee Dubya will act like a millstone around the necks of Republican politicians all over the US come November 2008.

12. Reagan didn't have a Democratic Congress trying to impeach
him on BS, fabricated scandals (like travelgate, whitewater, filegate, etc)

True, we were rooting out clandestine operations that were defying the will of Congress (Iran-Contra/arms-for-hostages) and international corruption/terrorism (BCCI), but who could hold a clueless person, like Reagan, responsible for that?

6. And they want us to believe
that this guy was really elected? The dems should start peppering their speeches and appearances with the saying 'the unpopular president'. Doubt that 45% is even the real number, this was Gallup and he is usually higher in that poll.

8. gee it makes you wonder...
how he could re-elected at all?
But I recognize that my question is a silly one. His first term wasn't due to an election either.

Life in these Fascist States goes like this.

11. The full effects of the Bush policies are becoming apparent.
At least I'd like to hope people are rational enough to realize that there's going to be a huge, huge mess to clean up after this clown leaves office, and probably during his term, too. Contrary to what Dick Cheney claimed about deficits and Reagan, we will get stuck paying off what Bush has spent on the national credit card. It doesn't help that the dollar is weak, the trade deficit is soaring, and we may have a perfect storm of housing bubble and high rate of debt, national and personal, that will slam the economy.

Don't get me started on the long-term national security implications of two Bush terms, either.

What's sad is that innocent people are being harmed by his policies and will ever after. Despite his claims to be unconcerned about history, Bush and his entire administration are forever posing for not only the statues but also the coins and the stamps. They think that their every act simply glows with virtue. :puke:

18. It can't be true! Corporate Media is always letting us know how
the Chimp is spreading democracy across the troubled world! He prays a lot, too, so he can't possibly be doing anything to justify such a low rating!
