"Briefly: Iraq" - "Yeah, I did misspeak," Cheney said (on WMD)
This was stuck inside this story:

"Briefly: Iraq
U.S. soldier killed after Fallujah protests"

"FALLUJAH, Iraq - Insurgents killed one U.S. soldier and wounded three others Sunday outside the troubled city of Fallujah, a day after angry protesters fired weapons and called for violence against the U.S. occupation to protest one of the most serious friendly fire incidents of the Iraq war."...

..."In his comments on NBC's "Meet The Press," Cheney was forceful in discussing weapons of mass destruction.

Questioned by host Tim Russert, Cheney acknowledged that he had been wrong to claim, as he did on "Meet the Press" before the war, that Iraq had reconstituted its nuclear weapons.

"Yeah, I did misspeak," Cheney said. "I said repeatedly during the show `weapons capability.' We never had any evidence that (Saddam) had acquired a nuclear weapon."...

and the link: (watch for the wrap)http://www.registerguard.com/news/2003/09/15/a2.int.iraqbrfs.0915.html

Now WHY was this stuck inside an article? Yeah, right! Finally, finally, this is getting into print. I just wonder why it wasn't on the front page!

6. I love it.
After being confronted with a tremendous lack of evidence, the Bush Administration is slowly, but surely getting into some seriously political and maybe even legal hot water.

7. Misspoke?! "Did I say Saddam had reconstituted nuclear weapons..."
"What I meant to say was "Isn't this great weather"

How do you misspeak something like that.

Did rummy misspeak when he said he knew where the weapons were - "near Baghdad and Tikrit - "to the north, and south, and east, and west, somewhat"?

Oh, but it doesn't matter anyway because we have decided that we came as liberators. And/Or live targets to draw in all the evil-doers. Take you pick. Sheesh.

Humanity cannot let this horrible crime go officially unrecognized or unpunished.

8. He lied repeatedly in that interview
Amy Goodman did a great piece on the mtp interview this morning on Democracy Now. She even had Joe Wilson on to respond to Cheney's bullshit. That whole interview was nothing but lies, lies, lies. Listen to the dissection of the lies here: http://www.democracynow.org/

11. Cheney Lied on Meet the Press on Sunday
When discussing the situation in Iraq, Cheney said that he had read classified documents that were found in Baghdad that proved that Iraq was the home base of Al-Qaeda. As he was heading to his limo after the show, reporters were waiting outside asking for more details on these so called documants. CNN was later informed by people who have access to classified documents that no such documents existed. Can't wait to see him back on Meet the Press if he even has the nerve to show up again and Congress should also look into his false claims.

9. Just a little slip of the tongue.
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 11:03 AM by bif
"We HAVE evidence that Saddam has acquired a nuclear weapon" sounds so much like "We have no fucking evidence whatsover that Saddam has acquired a nuclear weapon." I can see how you could make a little mistake like that Dick.
